I am looking into installing a water filter in the basement, we have a 2008 Lerado 5th wheel. I want to install the filter so all of the fixtures have filtered water, for drinking and to per long the life of the fixtures. Currently looking at the clear canister with mounting bracket in the drinking water section of www.rvwaterfilterstore.com. Has anyone installed this exact canister I am planning to use the F1 filter that has a flow rate of 3-4 gallons/minute. If possible can you post/send pictures? Thanks in advance for you input!
mine came with an undercounter water filter cannister style. I changed the plumbing so it just filters to a single tap for drinking water and I use a ceramic filter there. I also have a cannister one outside that has just a sediment rust filter (cheapos) The water comes from the CG faucet thru the filter and into trailers regular plumbing. This is more to keep crud out of the taps etc. The outside one is removable with quick connects.

I've one of these under the kitchen sink for drinking/cooking water http://www.quixtar.com/products/product.aspx?itemno=100189&ctg=2208 I've been considering one outside for sediment, but it's also easy enough to pul the aerator off of the faucets and clean them once a year.

Funny you should ask because I just got done installing my filter system today. I didn't want to wait on the RVFilterstore so I went to Lowes and bought similar style filters and installed them in my 5er basement. Wasn't hard, you just have to think through the plumbing system and figure out how you are wanting it to filter. Right now, mine only filters the city water coming in, I will be adding a Tee and re routing my water pump outlet into the filter inlet to filter tank water as well.
I bought two filters and installed them in-line with each other, the first is a sediment filter that filters up to 5 micron, the second is a carbon filter that filters down to 1 micron and removes odor, chlorine, etc.
I also installed an under sink filter in the kitchen that filters the cold water to the sink. Three filters for my trailer because we stay at a ranch quite often that has well water with a lot of sediment in it. It is good water, just has a bad color.

How did you go about rerouting the city water hookup? Just disconnect it, tie it to filter(s) then run the output of the filters to the line that used to come off the city water hookup?
I guess it would be that simple.
We have a camco inline ceramic and carbon filter that didn't do squat for the nasty campground water we ran into last week. I like the Lowes filter idea.
Use the filter from Home Depot (or Lowes) - simply set it on the
ground below the water connection (to the RV). Use short hose from the
filter to the RV inlet.
Works great - any leaks are on the ground. Easy to change filters, etc.
Not an "original" set-up - - have seen lots of others doing the same thing.
i have been doing like Bumpy for several years & it works great and no water in the rig when you change cartridges either!!IMHO

I installed mine permanently because I am going to tee into it with my water tank line as well, kinda hard to do outside the rig. I also didn't want one more thing to have to set up outside. My basement is easy enough to get to and I put the filters in an accessible enough place that it isn't a big deal to change the filters. They should last at least 3 months (carbon filter, 6 months for the sediment filter) with constant usage so it isn't like I am getting in there to change filters all the time.
I installed one from CW under the sink that just supplies the cold water side for drinking & coffee. We didn't need filtered water for everything else.
