I like Optimas myself, no acid to worry about spilling. Been running them in my diesel pickups for years.

I am referring to the batteries mounted in the 5th wheel. I have been researching golf cart batteries. Any suggestions.

I have two 6V golf cart batteries hooked up in series for 12V. That seems to be a fairly common hook up and works well. The batteries last a good while when maintained.

Sam's Club has them for under 70.00 a for 6 volt Golf Cart battery. Trojan also make a good 6 volt.

That's what I'm talking about too, Optima makes a deep cycle and a marine battery, which can be used in an RV.

IMO Optima is a ok battery but way over priced for what it does.Optimas fall on there face in amp hours. You can get two 6 volts for the price of one optima. That will give you over 2x the amp hours. Optimas look cool but I keep my battery compartment closed.

I think any pair of 6 Volt GC batteries will do. Trojans are considered the gold standard, but they are spendy. Any of the true GC batteries should be fine.
I would suggest that you insure your converter is a good 3 stage, capable of keeping your batteries up to snuff. If not, even a good set of batteries will disappoint you. I have a Prgressiv Dynamics PD9245 that I am happy with; I got the 45 AMP unit as I wanted to be able to use a 1KW gen for charging. If you are planning to charge from a larger generator or shore power, I suspect a 60 AMP unit would be better. There are many other good converters that others have found work well.

I have 4 6V GC. I just replaced the factory original after 6 years. I went to NAPA paid under $300. I also have a solar panel connected to the bat.

We went the 2 golf cart battery route with our 30' Seahawk but since our Yellowstone purchase have just stuck with the single battery. We always keep the battery at home on a trickle charger if the unit sits in our storage lot longer than a few weeks. I think 2 batteries are an over-kill for anyone who doesn't drycamp a lot. Good luck.
