(I'm the one on the tractor)
Great shot of you on the ole tractor! I wish I had some pics of me at eight yrs, driving my uncle's old John Deer. He still has that tractor and uses it religiously. That was 42 years ago that I learned how to drive on that thing.

Growing up in west Pa. farm land was the best! My mom hardly saw me until time to eat. Stayed out in the woods trying to sneak up on deer, playing in the creeks, riding my bike on the gravel roads. Lots of gravel stuck in the knees and hands from wipe outs! Winter time was the same. Came home with frozen pants, fingers that hurt so bad from the cold and hearing the snow plow go down the road at 4 in the morning. School was rarely canceled! I had the best play ground you could have!
I remember being about 7 years old and driving my uncle's old farm truck across a Texas panhandle pasture while he threw the cake and hay out for the cattle. Skating without skates on the frozen stock tank. Eating fresh eggs and farm raised bacon with a cold glass of fresh milk for breakfast. Ate what we raised, and raised what we ate. The good ol' days.
I remember in the early 60s, being small, and my father brought home the very first COLOR TV in our neighborhood!! It was so exciting! All the neighbors came over to have a look. It was the biggest news around! I was allowed to have two friends over that night, and it seems we watched "Peter Pan" in color. Maybe it was just "The Wonderful World of Disney" which was always a favorite, but I remember the beautiful peacock coming on "In Living Color!" and the entire family running to watch with fasination. My Grandma had one of those new fangled contraptions called a "remote control". It has two buttons. Up, down, for the channels, and high, low for the volume. I remember playing with it and making the channels go around and around. Fasinating!

Trooped with all the other kids around the campground for about a half hour beating the inside of one of mom's old pots. Led by a, probably hearing impaired member of the campground staff.
Having to sign up early before the other kids did to ride in the truck and help the campground pick up the trash.
Walking around in the rain wearing a large trash bab because we forgot to bring raingear.
Eating while sitting on the table part of the picnic table with our feet on the bench as we had 10 inches of rain in the site.
Having the campground tractor pull the campers up on the road due to the flooding.
My brother petting the black kitty with the white stripe on his back.
Getting a brain freeze drinking out of the spring by the road in August.

I remember when my cousins and I would ride our horses WAY down to my aunt & uncle's fourth field to check on & count the cattle. It was about 3 miles down a gravel road to get there, when I was 9 or so it seemed like a very long way. During the spring we would always be excited to report on the new calves when we got back to the house.
We would take sandwiches and KoolAid in our thermos' and make a day out of it. Sitting by the creek eating our lunch, goofing around, playing in the fort we built. What fun!

Delivering "Raw Milk" to customers. Riding on the tailgate of a 49 plymouth station wagon. Grabbing two bottles of milk and jumping off the tailgate while the car was still moving, running up to the porch with the milk, then chasing the car. Running along behind the car and jumping and twisting so that you landed in a sitting position back on the tailgate. Oh, and the times you missed. Not fun to miss, but we survived it.
Going to Gramma's house in St. Paul and buying carrots off the vegatable wagon to feed to the horse pulling the wagon. What a racket the veggie guy had. Got paid to feed his horse.
