My Onan GenSet 4000 that has ran perfectly for years. Now all the sudden the generator Starts fine and sounds great and doesn't miss a beat, but after a few minutes it cuts off. Sometimes it will run for 20 or 30 minutes, sometimes only a couple of minutes. It shuts down just like you turned off the switch. It doesn't matter if there is a load on it or not. I have checked the fuel line and fuel filter, and they are fine. I have a full tank of gas in the RV. Oil if fine. Air filter is fine. Ventilation is fine. What next. Fuel pump or should I look for an electrical problem or something else I am missing?
Will it restart right away? If not, spray some starting fluid in the carb throat and try it again. If it starts and quits or continues to run while you spray the the carb it's likely a fuel delivery problem. You can disconnect the fuel line @ the carb, run the hose in a can and push the start button. Fuel should come out...if not, go from there.
