Mine is fairly vocal -- and I am not exactly sure what she is saying, but I can often determine what she wants.

She cracks me up with the variety of mumurs, chirps, meows and the "Silent Meow" which means "hate to bother you but I want something" (the polite meow).

HI, I had a black cat that loved to talk. I would carry on a conversation with her. She would scold us if we got home too late, didn't feed her when and what she wanted to eat, hadn't cleaned the litter pan quickly enough, when she had caught something good, etc. We miss her and her Siamese sounding voice very, very much. She had a large vocabulary of sounds, meows, chirps, etc. However, we didn't know if she was purring, it was so quiet. Her sister from the same litter, a gray marble Calico, purred very loudly, shook the house, but did not talk. She is also missed very much. The black cat died this May at 20 years and 2 months, the gray one two years ago at 18. Loved them both.

Our cat talked so much that a child said that she had never heard a cat bark before. He had to be locked in a room when we wanted to change the message on our answering machine. Opie was also an orange tabby.

Let's see, our gray long hair does the "Silent Meow" when she is mad at you. Our orange tabby says something that we swear sounds like "out" when he wants to go for a walk on his leash. Our female Manx grumbles and growls at you when she is hungry and we are ignoring her. The best is our brown tabby runs to the door to greet us when we come home and does a little chirp/bark that sort of sounds like the Scoobie Doo cartoon! He is a very happy rescue cat.

Our cat is very verbal too. He is a Maine Coon. He has been very talkative since he was a tiny kitten. Now he is a very large cat, not fat just big!

I have a cat that is talkative. He is a short haired bluepoint with blue eyes and white mittens and nose. His mother was a calico. Father was ?. The other kittens in the litter were gray/black striped, gray and white, yellow, and pure black. He was the only one with the siamese coloring. Some of the other kittens had the blue eyes but others had green eyes.

One of mine is vocal. Smart little terd. He's like a little kid. After having him since a month old, 3-4 years old now, I know what mine is saying. Hungry is what I hear often even though his food bowel is full.

The funniest thing I've noticed over the years, once the vocal stops getting my attention, my cat learned to strategically place herself by the doorway.

For example, she would sit next to the doorway that would lead to the kitchen. So her next move would be to sit 3 feet closer to the kitchen. A few minutes later, she would move 10 feet closer to the kitchen. Always in my line of sight.

See the trend? In dog speak that would be "leading?" hahaha
