hi there
I am new on here and this is my first of I am sure many posts to come
We have a 2008 Stampede by Palomino 19ft
We are super happy and have had no problems so far.
We have 2 young kids (5 and 3)
I have a qustion about the bathroom
We have beside the toilet and open shelf area which is where I assume towels are to be kept(at least that is where we have put ours) which is part of my concern.
My 5 yr old sons aim is not the most accurate if you know what I mean.
And really I am not fond of the idea of the clean towels being beside the toilet.
I was thinking about putting up some type of sping loaded shower curtain bar with a custom made shower curtain to protect the towels.
Any one else have this issue or any ideas about what I could do??

I am not familiar with your model but my best advice to start with is *Absolute no exception Rule* = everyone does *everything* SITTING DOWN. Male aim, or lack thereof, is notorious so all males entering our Roo's bathroom know the rule.
If I understand you, it is like an extension off the sink countertop perhaps? Anyway, I wouldn't think that's a good spot for towels for a lot of reasons. If you truly have no other place, and it's too small for a plastic sterilite container of some size to hold the towels or whatever, then use ziploc type bags. Washcloths can roll and fit into sandwich size or less individually, handtowels in quart, bath towels in 1 or 2 gallon. Then put an assortment of the ziplocked towels in an open plastic basket on that shelf area (velcro it down) and replace contents as needed. Like I said, personally I wouldn't want to put towels there at all but if you must, it's a solution. But I'd still be keeping plenty of lysol spray around and teaching the art of handwashing and sanitizer use even with the things being in bags, just for the outside of the bags. If you mount a wall hanger there, if it's as close as you say, it could still be an issue , I'd still be separating the washclothes and towels much further from the potty if even with "aim control" there's a splatter issue. For us, the towels are actually stored rolled up (you get more in storage when rolled) in one of the overhead cabinets above sofa and an open plastic basket in the cabinet next to it holds washcloths and spare handtowels. We do have a towel rod high up in the bathroom which is actually utilized in that when you go to shower, you bring your clean towel and washcloth from the cabinet and hang on there and your clean clothes or whatever until you get the shower itself ready and do your thing. There are a couple of rings for hand towels we actually have converted to paper towel usage as we don't like reuse of handtowel . We also added hooks on door which each person can hang up their personal toiletry bag (the kind that fold up and velcro and zip and then open back up with compartments) when they need it. I'd be more inclined to use the open shelf (if I understand your configuration right) to velcro on hand cleaners, sanitizers, and the like . Our potty is not right next to our vanity cabinet but I still like this setup we have.
Don't you just want to slap all those grandpa's that taught their sons and hence grandsons how to write their names in tinkle?????????????? laughing

I think maybe I'd get some towel rings and mount them up high and hang two or three towels on each one... store the rest somewhere else.
If you have room, mount a paper towel holder over the sink or close enough to use for hand wiping.

Great ideas. Let's not move the towels. Let's just teach all our boys to squat when they pee, and maybe they will never learn that it can be done standing up. Better yet, let's give them all girls names and they probably will never even attempt it. Problem solved. Gotta love these RV forums for answering our serious camping questions.

AIMING problems notwithstanding, Myth-busters did an episode on the problems of storing tooth brushes across the room from the toilet and found that they WERE polluted just by the act of flushing the toilet. I think that with MOST RVs they put storage areas where they can and leave it up to the USER to determine just what they choose to use it for.

I'm just curious, does it look like this? I was trying to get a visual and found this on Google --

If yours is the same as this one, I have no idea what I'd put there! We hung an extra towel bar in our bathroom, and we also bought two tension rods that we hang in the shower when we want to dry stuff or hang extra towels.
Congrats on the new camper!
