I'm thinking the best tire is the one that is one load range higher than what the manufacture put on the trailer to start with.

I agree with the ford guy, weight that puppy and find out what rated tire you need. If a tire store associate is worth his slat he will tell you how much tire you need to safely carry that load. I am fortunate enough to have a friend in the tire business who sat down with me and figured all that stuff out for me. I have good rated tires now, now any thing close to the paper thin factory ones forest river put on.

I have XPS ribs on order.
Do a search on this Forum for `tires' then search the results for the tire brand you are interested in. You will find that virtually all of them are either made in China or, with Maxxis, may be made in Mexico but they are almost impossible to find.
Be sure the tires you buy are made in 2008!

I went from Marathon ST205 75R 15 D to Maxxis ST225 75R 15 E. Problem solved !! These are/were made in Taiwan. JMHO

I have Tow Masters with 10,000 miles on them... well three left and they are made in Canada. I cut one on vacation this year and had to get a replacement in New York state. The best I could find was a Goodyear marathon made in China. Ironically, the Tow Master was made by Goodyear in Canada and the Goodyear was made in China and cost way more!
I am happy with the Tow Master and would have bought 5 if they would have had them. We will see if the China made Goodyear holds up better than my Nankang tires did. They are 205/75 load C and they weight on all four tires are 5000 lbs are 1,250 lbs per tire and always run 50 psi.

Denman Express Radials - Made in Mexico, always have been, at the same plant. Denman is an American tire company, headquarted in Ohio, and still makes their Express Bias in Ohio. One more vote for weighing the trailer. We argue about brands all day long, made in China, etc. You will read both horror stories and glowing reviews on almost EVERY brand of ST tire made today, Chinese or not. Fact is that RV tires blow out when they are underinflated, overloaded, or both. Most TTs built today leave almost *zero* margin between the axle weights divided by four and the load rating of the tire. This means that a slideout on one side, or other heavy object may "tip the scales" and overload one tires out of the 4.
More important than brand, the "best" tire you can buy is one that is one load rating higher than the OEM. In your case, moving from C to D would be a good bet.

My TT is going on 6 yr. old, so it was time to replace tires. I had a severe problem with one of my D range Marathons (ginormous sidewall blister), so decided to go with Maxxis on the basis of a lot of info I gained from this forum. I went with the E range (10 ply rated) & so far I'm very happy with them. My Maxxis tires, by the way, were made in Thailand.

My advice, buy from a dealer near your home base area.Here in Phx I buy all of my tires from Discount tire .Good service, locations all over the west for warranty work.And I have taken a few back.
