I saw an Onan PSB about low voltage. I think it covered your unit. I will check it out.

If you go to an Onan dealer. Have them look up these PSBs may or may not cover your unit but worth a look. PSB 633A-637-665 all have to do with voltage problems.

Do you have a copy or link to that PSB?

UPDATE: I took my MH to Onan to see what can be done. The verdict was the stator and rotor needs to be replaced. For a unit made in 1992 and it will take over $1800 in parts, I dont think its worth rebuilding. However, a new unit is around $5000.
5K is not in my budget at this time, but it would be nice to have a working genny.
What other options would I have?

It seems more than a little strange that both the stator and rotor would be bad. How was this determined, and how long did they spend diagnosing the problem(s)?

They spent 4.5 hrs on it. They took various readings from both to determine this. I took this to a Cummins/Onan dealer. Id like to think they know what they are talking about.
The thing that really sucks is, they want me to pay for what they have done so far at 100 per hour. Thats ok if something is getting fixed, but to determine something is terminal? I have a hard time writing that check.

I agree with Dick. Seems strange that both items are bad and yet you still have some power. Also at 4.5 hours what were they doing. I have done an R/R on a DKD rotor and stator in less time.If you are good with your hands, buy the service manual and do the test yourself. Not that hard.

I think they put an amateur on it. It should take less than a half an hour to determine what is wrong.
Unless it is exceptionally hard to get out, they shold have been able to diagnose the problem, remove it from the MH, repair it and reinstall it in less than 4 hours. Along with the mark up they take on parts, they could have made a nice profit off of you and sent you on your way happy.
Ask them what the published standard shop rate is to diagnose this problem, bet its way under 4.5 hours.
Also, very doubtful that both rotor and stator are bad. Ask for them to put it in writing as to the proceedure they used to come to the diagnosis they came up with.
Did they use a certified technician to do this? One certified by Onan as a RV genset technician? Hope it wasn't the summer help taking a break from sweeping the floor getting experience at your expense.
