I am having a problem with my front AC. It is a Duo-Therm by Dometic. The AC unit will turn on, then turn off. Also the unit will run and you can hear the compressor turn on and off. I have taken the cover off the thermostat and cleaned. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help. Your friend Houston

traveln circus. Yes the fan is running, but you can hear the compressor going on and off. Also the unit will start to run, but turn itself off and on every couple of seconds. Thanks for responding. Your friend Houston

If you have adequate voltage and amps available, you probably have a bad run or start capacitor.

Believe it or not, when my A/C did that it turned out to be the batteries having low voltage and affecting the control unit. Got new batteries and it solved the problem. Worth a check.

We just had the same problem. We also have an energy monitoring system that indicated the AC unit was drawing >50 amps during the period it was trying to start. Called a mobile RV repair tech for our Dometic. He replaced the start capacitor and ptc for $95 and we were good to go.

JFG...Good suggestion, but was not the problem.
nosaint3...Batteries were OK.
RoadPilot...Was not the start capacitor
FISHBUM....Was not frozen..How's the fishing?
I think I have fixed the problem, going thru all you'll suggestions. I went up on the roof and took the cover off. I had a big dirt doper nest on the coils. I clean it off. Then I check the filters, front and rear. They needed to be cleaned. Right now both ACs are working great. Keep my finger cross. I really think it was the dirt dopers. Everyone have a great day and thanks. Your friend Houston
