I am planning on getting a generator for my 5th. I am looking at the dual Hondas or the Yamaha 4500ise. How do you all handle your generators in the rain. Are they weather resistant? I would be afraid of putting it under the king pin area because of fumes going into the bedroom. Thanks for your thoughts.

I put mine under the back corner of the coach in bad weather. With the exhaust pointing away from the coach. I use the Honda 2K and never had an issue.Clean your air cleaner and change your oil often and they will run for a long time.

Most of the time when at NASCAR races I put under the overhang with exhaust pointing to the road. I don't run at night when sleeping. Randy

I put our 2 Hondas under a pup tent fly to keep the rain off. I tie the doors open when I run them. I don't know if it's necessary but I get nervous about them getting wet.

I have a Honda 3000 watt generator, and I believe that the operating manual for this machine specifies NOT to use it in the rain.Having some sort of water proof shelter over the unit would be my preference if I absolutely had to use it in the rain.
Providing adequate ventilation for good airflow would also be necessary, not only for removal of exhaust fumes, but also for cooling air to flow through the housing for the engine.

I think the only reason Honda says not to use their gens in the rain is because the outlet themselves are not protected.

We got one of those large golfing umbrellas that has the clamp to hook onto a chair and just clamped it on the handle of our Yamaha and the umbrella provides plenty of coverage from rain and sun.

We keep our Yamaha EF2800i in the bed of our truck next to the cab. We have a tri-fold tonneau cover and that protects it from rain. If we decide to have it out of the truck it goes under the fiver. We also carry a small tarp if we ever need to make a small tent for it.
