Have just got a verizon air card and it works great. My question is that we are headed to Canada and I want to know if the air card will work there. If it does work will there be any extra charges.

If you pick up service, there will not be a charge other than your monthly charge. From what I can see of the coverage area, if you are near the border, you will have coverage. Your friend Houston

Be very cautious about this. We have an AT&T aircard and there doesn't seem to be much difference between the two plans. We can use our card in Canada but the per minute charges are very high. It's not in the nationwide plan.
We disabled the international setting in our communications manager so that we would never accidentally hook up to a Canadian provider while we were near the border. Find some WiFi and use that. It'll be much cheaper.
Call Verizon and ask. That's where we had to go for AT&T. The websites just aren't very helpful for this.

Calling Verizon is good advice.
Here is a quote from their terms of service:
"In the Canadian Broadband and Canadian Enhanced Services Rate and Coverage Areas, usage will be charged at a rate of $0.002 per KB or $2.05 per MB."

Oh yes, it will work great! The downside is the cost of the service. I am within 12 miles of the Canadian border and I regularly get hooked up to a Canadian cell tower. The last charge on my bill was almost 50 bucks but a call to VZ had it removed. Get the cost from VZ and you might decide it is cheaper to use a wifi connection or an internet cafe.
