wa8yxm,

Detroit water comes from the river and Lake Huron. It is then treated.

Some does some does not, I'm not sure where mine comes from

I'm close to one of the well sites but .. I think I'm "Up-system" from it (Which means it is not feeding me)

I use well water in my house. I drink well water right out of the hose pipe. My pipe is NOT one of those white tasteless hoses. I water the garden with that hose. I water the garden with my well water.

I don't understand all the hype with bottled water and filtered water. I grew up drinking well water.

We use to pull it with a bucket by dropping it down in the well and winching the filled bucket up.

Then, got high tech and got a hand pump. We would pump that thing up and down many times to get water up and into our containers.

Then, we got an electric well pump and ran it to pull the water up to drink and use in the house when it was hooked to faucets in the house after remodeling the kitchen and adding a sink.

Then, we slid the outhouse against the house and built that in for indoor plumbing hooking up a septic system and installing a bathroom sink and hooking the water to that.

And, i've turned on the faucet and drank right from the hose pipe. So, why would it matter whether I used well water in my rv when it's being used in the house for everything with no trouble at all?

I haven't died yet. My grandparents lived to their mid 80s drinking well water. My great grandparents lived to their mid 90s drinking well water.

Sometimes the simplest answers are not an issue at all. It's the question that you ask without looking at your past.

Oh, and the hose pipe I use to fill my rv and my drums IS A WHITE tasteless hose, and I run a cheap $10 throw away blue filter to make sure no sediment gets in.

I've used my portable (extra rv pump) to draw water right out of a stream for drinking and using in my rv with this hose and filters.

My water flushes my toilet on all this water just peachy. My coffee tastes delicious with it...well and stream.

It's not muddy, or even looks like it's not clear. It doesn't leave any marks or stains in my toilet or anywhere. In fact, it has no taste at all. Nothing. Nada. Totally tasteless.

Can you say that about any city water you've used? Can you say that about your bottled water?

Go for it. Why sweat the small stuff. I mean, do you actually water your animals and plants with bottled water? If you do, hollar at me. My well water tastes better, is more pure, has less contaminates, doesn't contain chemicals to treat it to taste, and I don't charge near as much to refill your bottles and jugs out of my well. AND, I offer a guarantee that if my water kills you, then, you must have drowned and that isn't my fault.

What about using the well water to wash your rv? We don't use it to wash our cars, but we also can't take the rig to a regular car wash (or truck wash for that matter).

I'm curious why the question? Do you have a particular issue with your water? Really, it doesn't much matter if the water is from a well in your backyard or pumped from a municipal source ... what is the quality of the water in either case? Have you had it tested?

I know that my previous municipal water had overall worse results in many categories than I now get from my well. I don't hesitate to use my well water for drinking, washing cars, or any other use, but I also know the quality levels of my water and take corrective action for those qualities that I find unacceptable (sulpher).

If worried about it at all, get a test kit at home depot or other box store. I've tested mine every three years just cause and found it to be very good water. Cost you about $10 for peace of mind.

When I boondock during hunting season for one week at a time I have gotten water to refill the tank from a friend that lives a couple miles down the road from where I am camped for the last 10 years. I refill the tank a couple times using 3, 15 gallon poly drums. He has well water and I havent had a problem. I usually use up all but about 5 gallons by the time I return home. His well was going dry a couple years ago and he had it drilled deeper and into the aquifer, so his well water is even better now.
