You're right, of course. Only covered warranty work has to be done at a GM dealer or "authorized service center."

FWIW, I found a dealership in Illinois that will sell the exact save GM Protection Plan to me (3 years, 54,000 miles, $200 deductible) for $1300. That's $225 less than the local dealer wants. Prices are definitely negotiable.

Exactly what I did. I'm in California and bought my Dodge Service Contract from a dealer in Iowa. Saved on state taxes, and several hundred dollars buying it out of state and not from my local dealer.

When we bought the 07 the Toy only had a t 36 or 48K mile warranty...I forget what it was...but I paid the extra 1K to raise the bar to 100K for seven years. We should be at 100K in 5 if not less. For us its worth it. since it was a new engine out by Toy we thought it was worth it. I looked at it as a 30K truck whats another 1K for security.

We bought our 21 point 7 year 200K mile extended ford warranty here

http://www.dieselwarranty.com/index.php?option=com_frontpage&Itemid=1

Much cheaper than the dealer quoted.

Yes, you should get the extended warranty and towing. This is Ford your talking about. Not the best reputation on the road.

Bottom line I purchased the extended warranty from Ford, to make a long story short I ended up paying $1,495 that included the tire hazard and immediate car rental.

Based on the original quote here in Charlotte I saved $250 and got more coverage.

Picked up the truck and it is in the driveway.....wow it is big!!
