I'm not able to help you but I just spent half the day working on a rig that likes to light up that very inverter (I mean set it on fire)
I think we figured it out (open neutral) but .... When he gets his next one we are going to pow-wow with it and some test gear before we "Smoke test" it

Why is everyone so reluctant on this topic. Do an internet search for "xantrex 2500 dual input inverter" and you will get pages of vendors selling them. The part number is from the xantrex freedom series #458 25-12.
Also when I said Camping World turned me onto this was an example of how easy it is to purchase one which started as the topic of this post. So getting back to the original post, I still think the easiest thing to do would be to exchange the 2000w single input inverter for a 2500w dual since that is the way his system is already wired.

Try talking to the people at Don Rowes Inverters in Monroe, OR. It's all they do.... Looking at the map they are only a couple hours from "Northern Calif."
