Was away for 8 days with motorhome, ran fine, 2500 miles.
Came home, parked it,left it for 7 days. Moved it and found fresh oil leak approx. 12 inches around, with trail of drips to where I moved it to.
Put pan under where I thought it might be leaking from (oil plug). Left it for 3 days nothing.
Started it up and oil appeared to have spattered not on pan but by it. I moved it forward and backed it up while my husband tried to see where it was coming from. At that time it didn't appear to leak.
I seemed that when he stepped on the gas hard is when it happened.
Anyway, I have an appt. for freightliner next week, so I guess we'll know then.
Just seems odd that after a 2500 mile trip, without difficulty it appears after sitting in my driveway for a week.
Anyone ever have any problem like that?
Thanks,
Sue

Are you sure that it was oil? Ever since the switch-over to ULSD, I've had an intermittant leak with the fuel pump. It only happens during the first several minutes of operation and the leak is small.

Almost 100% sure. No gas smell, was black, and thick looking.
Would fuel be more golden?

It could be laying on something and dumps off because he accelerates hard. The way to find it is a good light and start looking where it comes from. If you have an appointment to have it fixed it could be a lot of work for nothing.

Check the oil return from the turbo. Mine sprung a leak there on it's last trip out.

Check your oil filter and make sure it's tight.

Anything we can see looks ok. We have an appt. with freightliner this thursday, so hopefully we will find out then. Hope its not a big problem as we are heading up to Cooperstown Monday.
Thanks for all the responses and input.
I will let you know the outcome.

It might just be the breather tube dripping a few drops. While running down the road it SHOULD all blow away...but some of the oil vapor can accumulate in the breather pipe and then drip later on.

No arm chair diagnosis are nearly as good as just crawling under and LOOKING for the source of the oil.
Be sure jacks are down and/or jack stands in place.
