I have a chance to purchase a 98 holiday rambler 36 ft. for less than %35,000 one slide, excellent condition. low mileage. The only problem we noticed was very little storage in the kitchen area. Does anyone out there own one and what do you think ? we have owned rv!s for many years but never had own this long or with a slide.

you will love the slide. Once we had one we wouldn't consider another Rv without one. Kind of like extended cab trucks. Once you experience the room it is hard to go back.

Enjoy it. Can't help with the storage in kitchen question.

36'? Got two roof AC units I hope?

You didn't say if this sale pending was from the owner or dealer. If it's by owner ask for all service history he has on the coach, and take all the time needed to review to make sure he's done at least an annual full service for chassis and gen set lube and oil change, in addition to tranmission and radiator fluid changes on manufacturer's time table. The older the coach, the more important service records are to a prospective buyer.

Its a ten year old coach so you should have a pretty thick book of regular service plus records of upgrades for things like a.c. units, tv's, microwave, etc. if they have been replaced.

You can either buy a great bargain at that price or end up spending what you paid for it repairing things that were not maintained. A rebuilt Cummins 8.3 ltr. can easily run $20,000, so ask questions and take your time before you pull the trigger.

Gas or diesel? If its the Ford F-53, I wouldn't even consider it.

We had a 99 HR Vacationer and traded it on our present rig in 2005. So, all I'll say is if what you are looking at is a 98 Vacationer on the Ford F53 chassis, at $35,000 it is about $15,000 overpriced. You shouldn't pay more than $20,000 even if it is in mint condition as ours was when we traded it.

There are MANY models of Holiday Rambler MH's ranging from inexpensive gassers to high-line DPs. Some are very average, some are much nicer than average. It makes a huge difference which model you are talking about.

As several have pointed out, we can not comment on your choice, since we have no idea what coach it is-- or even if it is gasoline or diesel.

The more details you give, the better the feedback you will receive.

Down to details like if Cummins B engine, what HP and is it mated with a 6 speed Allison transmission.

Contrary to others remarks, there's nothing wrong with the Ford F53, however in 99 they came out with the wider track front suspension and 19.5 wheels. If it's the model with the narrower track and 16.5 wheels, I would reconsider. As far as the brand they're a great coach well insulated.

Congratulations, just be sure to check age of tires, if over 5 years old, might want to replace them as a precaution.

Good luck and have a lot of fun safe and trouble free journeys.
