I am wanting to go to Guyamas sometime in Oct or Nov, and would like any info you folks might have about the area. Especially interested in nice Rv parks and fishing.

We have stayed at both Totanaka and El Mirador. We prefer Totanaka as it is more centraly located. The El Mirador is further out and although it is (was) a beautiful rv park there have been many posts talking about the state of dis-repair that is befalling it. Also they raised the rates a couple of years ago which promted us to go to Totanaka. There are a couple of other parks but these two are by far the best. In Guaymas there is the Hotel Playa Cortez RV Park, we went by there but no one was staying there.(At one time it was the premier Hotel around.)
We'll be crossing SOB the weekend after Thanksgiving for our yearly sabbatical. Can't wait. We've canned plenty of NM green chili to take with us.

We stayed at Totanaka when we were down last time. Great park. Nice guy runs it. Free Wifi as I recall too.
Some pics of the park on our website.

El Mirador Closed Permanently according to this thread. There is a retraction near the end of the thread so who knows.

There are really only 2 choices in San Carlos ! El Mirador which is Very Quiet and has Nice Amenities and is Never Full, but is further from the Highway and Guaymas, and Totonaka which often has a Noise problem from the Bars across the Road, is usually crowded but is closer to The Main Highway!
Both Parks have free WIFI and Both have Decent Folks looking after them!
We prefer the Quiet at El Mirador the Prices are comparable at Both places.

Another option is the Hotel Playa de Cortez, on the sea between San Carlos and Guaymas: RV Park Hotel Playa de Cortez. I have not been there, but it looks nice from the pictures. Here's their web site, and a Wikimapia aerial image
We really liked Totonaka--nice people, great location--but the beachfront isn't the best. There is some sort of smelly sewer drain nearby, at the bottom of the steps off the malecon, and it's very coarse sand (gravel?). Head further south if you want nice beaches. That aside, we really enjoyed it there, along with the ice cream stand and restaurant nearby.
El Mirador was top notch when we were there, but no shade and a little out of the way. It's not too far from the marina and fishing.

I posted in the San Carlos forum that the El Mirado was for sale. El Mirador for sale There have been several additional posts that they are closed, the storage units are being moved and no one is in attendance on site. We stayed there in October of last year and enjoyed our stay. Sorry to discover it might be closed.

Rumor has it that the Marina purchased the El Mirador and that they are going to tear it down to build condos.
