Just for a little twist, I have been turned away, I'm only 31', for the record it was Cherry Plane State Park in New York. They did allow me to stay in the parking lot for the night since I was a late arrival. There are a lot of Parks in the NY system State and DEC parks that are for tenters, or small Pop-ups. Another Park that I checked out and was told no way to big, was the Taconic State Park - Copake Falls Area. But also it wouldn't matter what size I had for a MH I wouldn't be allowed. I just would just like to stress that it is always wise to call ahead. I might say campsite but they don't always say what kind. Just My Personal Experience. Bill

at 35' I recently stayed at a Wa state park in a site listed for 18' or less. Yes I filled the space but I got in and out just fine.

I wouldn't sweat the sizes you're looking at. but do be aware, a 29' Class C model may actually be over 30' in bumper to bumper real world length

We are having the big debate on size. Advice is to go bigger. We will be camping in state parks and national parks and are aware of some having restrictions on length.

Does anyone know of a comprehensive list of camp sites that show size restrictions?

We are debating between a 29' and 33'.

Thanks!!

Buy the 33 footer!

Site size isn't the big problem I have found with state parks, most length listings are conservative. Most of the state parks were laid out years ago when trailers and motor homes weren't as long or tall. The biggest problem I have had are narrow, curving roads with trees very near the road and low hanging branches. Always keep an eye up in the older parks.

Go for the bigger coach. I used to go to Dogwood in the So. Cal mountains, near Arrowhead. Their limit was 24 ft. and I always found space for my then 33 footer. I have a 36' now and have never had a problem getting a spot.

Not much difference between a 29' and a 33'.

Pick ther best floor plan, water tank size, holding tank size, warranty, manufacturer, after sales support, etc. Other things that are very important depending on how you want to use it.

There are many things much more important to me than the decision between 29' and 33'. If the 29' will fit, the 33' will also fit.

Good Luck.

35 - 36 feet is where you're likely to start running into problems in state parks etc. I used to have a 35' and seldom had issues. You'll enjoy the exta space of a larger unit unless there are other issues

Connecticut restricts to 35' in all of their state parks that I have looked at. A lot of times the size restriction is based on the roads / low trees not the actual site size. The sites look big enough but maneuvering through can be a problem. I think in New England / New York you will find restrictions between 30-35' max length - however, I have gone in with bigger (37'). There are many state parks though that allow larger but there are a limited number of sites so sometimes you have to book early.

Remember a shorter wheel base coach will ride rougher and be harder to control then a longer one. We have had fourty footers for several years and never had a problem getting in anywhere. I am sure there are some cases where that is true but so far no one has turned us away.
