I have a NL 10 2000 truck camper and I alway dump black water first, then grey. Last time I was out, the black dumped fine (shows under 10% full on guage), but when I tried to dump the grey, nothing came out and it shows over 1/2 full. Any suggestions?

Could be a bad gauge. Try leaving the grey valve open and running a hose to the sink. Does grey water flow to the sewer? If not it may be your grey valve is broken in the closed position.

That could be, since when I tried to dump it, knowing there is water in it, nothing comes out...at all.

Could it be that some of the black water contents clogged the drain (they both drain out of the same drain).

If it is the valve, is that easy to repair/replace?
Thanks!

If nothing is coming out, there are 2 possibilities: a broken valve or a leak. Are you sure there's water in the tank? Testing with a faucet in the rig would prove that one way or the other.

If the black water contents had blocked the drain, you should be able to see it with a flashlight in the pipe from outside. you could always put on some "dish washing" gloves and feel around, too.

There is also one more possibility. That is the plastic cut out from the tank when it installed was left in the tank and has found it's way to the outlet side of the tank.

A simple test is to leave the dump valve open. Hold the slinky up above the tank height, fill it water from the hose, open the dump valve and let the water flow into the tank. This should move any obstruction away from the discharge. Quickly put the slinky back into the dump opening and see if starts flowing. Just on more thing to try. Bill

i just found some cool stuff in my slow draining gray tank. I shoved my fingers in there and yanked out a chunk of hair along with a grease/soap plug attached to the end of the hair..

Fun part is that we just bought the coach from a dealer..nice eh? Once I yanked that think out, attached the linky and caught my breath from naseau it was a HUGE rush of water. I also try to fill my tanks 2/3 to almost full before I drain it (if you have time at the dump).

I like my black tank to flow like Aquafina.

If the valve does indeed to prove functional, you might buy one of the sewer caps that have a harden hose connection on it. Hook up a garden hose to it and turn on the fresh water and open the valve. That should blow backwards into the tank and dislodge anything that might be blocking the drainage.
