hey all, first off howdy! i'm a long time lurker, first time poster.

i've been looking for a c/super-c to go full time for a while and i think i've found one i like. my wife's only complaint is that the cab over bed has no window at the front. since we're looking at a toy hauler, it will be our main bed so it's important to her.

so anyway. i assume i could get a window put in there, but i was wondering if it's worth it. do front windows cause more noise? would i be opening up a can of worms for possible leaks? i kinda like it dark up there so i'm fine without it, but it would be nice to have a vantage point if someone is poking around the RV. thought?

cheers

I think the biggest problem will be leaks. It's my understanding that some manufactory have drop them because of this problem. With the wind, vibration, bouncing around. Just What I've heard. I know my "C" had a leaky window. Bill

to RV.net Andrew!

It is possible to have a front window put in, yes. A lot of manufacturers have stopped doing this because of warranty claims due to leaks.

If you find the right shop that could install one for you the CORRECT way, then find out from your manufacturer if it will not void the warranty on your MH. Then, and only then would I have one installed.

I just went through having a leaking window fixed and now I'm waiting for the next rain to see if they got it. I love looking out the window, but sure wish it wasn't there. I'll always be looking for the next leak. I agree with GotSalt don't do it.

I wish I could give you my cabover window to trade for no window. Mine leaks. Not a lot, but it does. My fixes haven't worked and I'll need to find someone more knowledgeable to do it for me. IMHO don't put one in.

Think about it.
At 75mph, you will have hurricane type forces pushing on your window. That equals leaks.

Do a side window, if you have to have one.

So does this mean the windshield will also leak and I should drive like a tank without front window?

I had a big cabover window on mine and in 4 years it never leaked.

Girls enjoy their window up there, but I'd feel more secure without it. First thing I had done while still in warranty was have the rubber gasket redone. 4 years later, having service done for the genset and refridge recall next week, and one other thing? Yup getting that gasket around that window reset in it's channel - had come away again.

cool, thanks for the feedback. i had read various reviews of various RVs with leaks in that area and figured it was prone to leaking. since we plan on jamming a nice mattress up there i think i'm with you guys. at least it has one side window, so she can get some air and light when she wants it.
