I usually avoid commercial RV parks in preference to state parks. So take my experience with that in mind.
I recently stayed at Fort Amarillo, TX, fees, environment met my expectations. (reasonably clean, relatively close, packed-in parking lot style, wifi, site rented was as described. Staff friendly & helpful... immediately repaired a leaky hydrant.
Next stop Cedar Rails on the NM/CO border (I-25). I asked for a level site, easy pull thru for a 1-niter. Site was not level, mgr was not particularly helpful. Finally, (and after some insults hurled my way) I was moved to a site that was tight but at least level.
I doubt that it is practical to preview sites before paying so be alert for "no refund" policies! I would have driven on otherwise. From now on I will look for that policy statement first as it may be an indicator of service quality.
If you are in the vicinity of Capulin NM give the Capulin RV Park a chance. We thououghlly enjoyed our stay there. Nice place, nice people and good facilities.
