I have been talking to the DW about doing the same window!!
Where did you order from??

Got ours from a local Forrest River dealer. Part number (on my invoice anyway) says #1973 and cost me $78.52. It’s the same window used in 17’ Roo Bathroom, or any other Roo’s bathroom that isn’t a “corner” style bathroom. The mini-blind came from Home Depot as did the valance rod and brackets (modified). The valance curtain was a leftover mismatched one that the factory had put in our Roo, they had sent us out a new matching one. You’ll need some white silicon caulk, a roll of butyl tape ($6) and a dozen +/- or so of the white (if you want the OEM look) 5/8” long screws.

I modified the window so it lifts open higher. Did this by drilling a hole on each side of the inside track, above the original “latch” holes (like I did to my dinette window on my webshots page).

Nice looking work Leaf-Peeper. I have to admit, of all the mods that could be done, that is not one I had thought of before. Thanks for the idea!

Excellent, thanks for the info. This will be on the mod list as soon as we stay home from camping trips long enough I hope. Also will do the adjustment on the dinette window in the next day or two. Hadn't thought of doing that but did notice it didn't raise all the way. So no problem with the new window when the slide goes in and out? Thanks a lot. A perfect place for a furbrat to sit and watch the world too.

No problem, works just like it would on a 21ss with windows in the slide.

The window frame projects about 3/8" above the face of the slide wall (same as a 21ss). I have noticed and have mentioned to the wife not to stop midway with the slide and then reverse direction (not really a typical function). The slide seals "flip" direction when changing slide direction. Changing slide direction midway, while the seal is traveling over the window frame could make it try and “double up” on itself in an area with less space than normally available. I believe this could possibly cause slide seal damage.

Well, I mentioned the window to DH. And our DFs we camped with this past weekend also mentioned it - several times. If I remember correctly, the answer was "not just NO, but.......". We did take a look and it looks like there is room between the pantry and the exterior wall to put a window on both ends. But think I have my answer. At least for now.

leaf, Robocop mentioned this to me the other night at the campfire! Nicely done! As soon as I get the window, I'm gonna Git-R-Done! A good friend of mine, xplrn, has an '06 Roo 232, and has the windows in the slide, as does Robocop's 21SS and Dave The Tech Man's new 232. I've thought about doing this since the day we bought it, glad someone had the guts to do it first, now I can follow, Thanks for posting and again, nice work. I hope I can find some material for the valance! ! ! If not I'll figure something out.......

We're still here at Tall Pines in Bainbridge N.Y., only Robocop and us left now, Had lots of rain today, we're hoping to finish our game of bocce and have a campfire tonight.

Take care for now! Mark

And one more dumb question, Leaf, the window didn't add enough weight to affect the slide out did out? I mean, the part where they tell you that it's a-ok to not have supports under your slide out (talking specifically my 23SS now) unless you are going to have the sofabed made out as a bed all the time and a couple of huge people on it or something. I don't know how close they cut the actual weight allowed without a support under a 23's SS, hence the question. Can't imagine the window weighs too much, but I have to be prepared for all the excuses my DH will give me for not doing this. Thanks!

So, is explaining that a bunch of anonymous posters on an internet forum told you it would not weigh too much be acceptable to him as a response to his excuse that it would weigh too much?

Just askin...

Who told you the nonsense about needing supports under the Roo 23SS slideout?

Actually I spent quit a bit of time analyzing this very question. With high end computer programs available to me at my disposal, I modeled and performed Finite Element Analysis, Operational Defection Shape and Model Analysis on the 23ss slide out “fixed” and “movable” structures. My conclusion: The removal of the material cut from the slide wall in conjunction with the upward spring tension forces of the “Carefree” brand slide cover, create little or no adverse weight affect … yadda, yadda, yadda… You do have a "Carefree" brand slide cover... right?

Probably just keep the mother in law off the sofa while working the slide and you should be fine.
