Traveling down 97 from Pasco Washington. I am looking for some place to stay that would be nice around Madras/Bend.

Any suggestion?

Thanks
Chuck

Highly recommend Crown Villa in Bend. Fabulous grounds. Has been sold but still open I believe. Check RVparkreviews.com

We're in Cascade Meadows in La Pine right now (30 mi. south of Bend). It's a membership park, but they do accept 'outsiders'. LOL!

Very wide, level, grassy sites with lots of room between. Swimming pool, laundry, clean restrooms, small stores and WiFi. Verizon cell phone service is iffy - really comes and goes, but can be picked up if you are willing to walk around the park a bit.

We are here through ROD, so we pay nothing for our stay. Do not know present rates. They are about half full. Nice pullthroughs for an overnight or longer. Also, right on 97.

And if ya have time, check out hwy 31 out of la pine. They got the "hole in the ground", "Fort Rock" its kinda cool. get directions at fort rock for the "crack in the ground" and the "ice caves".

The diversion is near, (Small trout lake) mostly only locals know about it. Or grab any dirt road off hwy 31 and explore. Good to have a 4 wheel drive and gps in these areas.

my mom lives in the area so i kinda know the area.

Tumalo State Park is always a reliable, comfy location.

If you want to dry-camp, you can just park somewhere out of the way in Shaniko (ghost town).

A beautiful spot is the "Cove Palisades State Park" off US97 15 miles SW of Madras. Been there twice and have really like it.

Depends on what you like and how long you are staying. Lots to see and do in the area. Cove Palisades is great. Two camprounds there. One is up above on a bluff overlooking the canyon and the the other is right down in the canyon.

Tumalo and La Pine are both great state parks on the Deschutes River. Other great camping in the area includes the fabulous Metolius River camps, Elk Lake near Mt. Batchelor, and the CG's in the Newberry Caldera.
