I have now been looking hard for a week for new tires/wheels to replace the 15 inch Missions on my Raptor. I was almost ready to by 16 inch Michelin LTX M+S and the corresponding new 16 inch wheels, but was told by a couple of tire dealers (one was The Tire Rack) not to use ANY LT tire--regardless of who makes it. They said although E rated, LT tires have soft sidewalls to improve the ride on a passenger vehicle (mostly trucks). ST tires on the other hand have firmer sidewalls and are made to bear the weight of a trailer (ST=special trailer??).
My next issue is the wheel package. My Raptor looks to have a wheel that is very similar, if not, an American Racing Outlaw II. They are identical. Can anyone confirm this? If you have gone from 15 to 16s, can you recommend a particular wheel? If you bought them online (which seems to be the way to go), what site did you use?
The Tire Rack refuses to sell a wheel that will go on a trailer. They only size the wheels/tires for vehicles, not trailers, even though I can tell them the bolt pattern. Does anyone have a recommendation for a site that will sell a wheel/tire package?
This has turned into paralysis by analysis.

Many RV manufactures put LT tires on their trailers from the factory. Most on this forum have went to LT tires on their heavy trailers. Keep looking, you will find wheels.

Thanks dbbls. I appreciate the insight. It would give me so many more options to be able to go to an LT tire. How many of you have converted w/success from an ST to an LT?

I have been pulling trailers everday for a long time.
Go to the 16" Michelin E rated LT.
If you can, stay away from ST trailer tires. I know of what I speak.
The only GoodYear tires to use on trailers are the G and the H rated.
Anyone buying a new trailer 5er or TT, is a WISE person to upgrade tires, wheels, valve stems, axles and bearings.

This question comes up often on these forums. You are better off with a "G" rated tire. The toyhaulers are typically heavier when loaded and build a lot of heat. I am currently using the Goodyears. Regardless of which brand tire you chose move up in rating.

I upgraded from ST to LT tires the first month I had my new Fuzion.
The ST tires on my Fuzion were Ultra CRT by Carlisle. Pure Junk.
I went with Firestone Transforce LT tires and what a difference.
LT tires have a higher speed rating than ST tires. This alone is an improvement. You won't go wrong with any brand of LT over the cheap ST tires on most of these trailers from the manufacturer.

the Firestone Transforce LT's E load range are really gaining in popularity with commercial haulers on their trucks and equipment trailers that use 16" tires. Moving away from any brand ST to a good brand of LT is a great move for a reliabile trailer tire.
