Test driving each is a great way to help decide. 4 years ago when I was ordering my GWV, Ford was the only option from that company. It was a battle in even the slightest wind until I replaced the tires and put a rear stablizer bar. Now its much easier to drive. The Chevy RT I test drove handled nicely but I don't remember if it was windy that day.
Ford has the great option of adding a combination door lock/unlock. I LOVE that feature. But the steering wheel middle (where I usually put my hands) is very thick and uncomfortable to drive for long distances.
I researched (and saved) for 5 years before plonking my money down on a 1996 Roadtrek 190P on a Dodge chassis. I found the B life to be fabulous, just as I had hoped.
My Dodge has been totally reliable. Roadtreks generally have a good reputation for lasting quality. It did wobble a bit when big trucks passed me, but I didn't find that to be a serious set back. The thing I liked least about my Dodge was the large engine cover in the cockpit; it consumed too much foot room & required some gymnastics when I wanted to move from either front seat to the rear.
I put about 60k happy miles on that old Dodge, & just traded it in at 104k miles for an '04 RT on a Chevy chassis, with only 20k miles. My new young Chevy handles much better on the highway & the cockpit is nice and roomy. I'm driving it to Belize next winter!
