I have the 3000 and mount it on a rack to the front of the truck and leave it there until I am done camping, and then use it on the house when the power goes out in the winter. All I have to do when setting up at a camp site is start it and plug it in.

If you decide to go with twin 1K, you can buy a factory cables for about $40.

The benefit from going twin 1K would be slightly more watts. 1800W per twin 1K VS 1600W per single 2k. Also lighter weight, about 25lbs VS 50lbs.

Downside with Twin 1K are double the maintenance and duration of run time per each full tank. 1K has a smaller tank, so you will be refilling more often.

1K will run 8.3 hrs @ 1/4 load, 3.8 hrs @ rated load.
2K will run 15 hrs @ 1/4 load, 4-5 hrs @ rated load.

If you go with a smaller BTU unit like the Polar Cub, I think you could run at eco mode most of the time and run close to 11-12 hrs?

I would personally go with a single 2K, but I'm sure you could decide yourself.

Also, you can sell your 1K for $400+ online to recoup the 2k and Polar Cub investment?

Good luck!

You are making the assumption that everyone can make their own parallel cable.
True, but it really is VERY simple to do and there are directions on the web.

If you can find the link, maybe some of the TCers would benefit from it.

They are slightly noisier when running both under a load but not annoyingly so. It is my understanding that the 3000 is actually quieter then the 2000 though.

Yes, the 2000 is noiser than a 3000, I did a test with a friend, and it was very noticible... BUT the 2000 are pretty quiet, and are easier to move.

I like my 3000, but it is bolted into the truck. It is also easier to change oil on the 3000, oil drain on back, you have to invert the 1000, 2000 to change oil.

I have a 3000 and it is heavy. I have to have help to move it. It will run both the A/C and the microwave. I would rather have twins only for the weight. It is easier to move twins then one 3000. If you have a permanent location for it I would go with a 3000. Oh and it is electric start.

You make me feel better robseg as I have to have my wife or brother help me lift it. I just didn't want to be the first to admit it.
