I'm heading for north east Ohio next week and I need some expert advice on witch route to take. I've got a 43' motorhome with a toad. Am I better off taking 15 north to route 80, or 322 west? 322 west looks shorter, but I remember it being winding and hilly. I'm curently camped outside of Hershey PA. Thanks....Bruce
Highway 15 works well for us pulling our 5'er enroute to Hershey,Lancaster area and even DC etc. I also drive highway coach (bus) and most of our drivers prefer 15 as well.

Life is a roller coaster. I was a first time rider - once!
I used to live in Lewistown, on 322 about 60 miles northwest of Harrisburg, and towed my travel trailer out to I-80 quite often. 322 is a good route, but the mountain just past Milroy (called Seven Mountains by locals) is very steep on the south side only. At State College, you would take 220 East (or North?) toward Williamsport and that will take you to exit 161 on I-80. Taking this route looks to be a much shorter route than 15 and is four-lane the whole length (322 and 220) except between Potter's Mill and Boalsburg and even that is a good and wide two lane. Between Harrisburg and Milroy it is slightly hilly, but nothing bad. After Potter's Mill, it is again just slightly hilly.
I always took Route 144 through Centre Hall and Pleasant Gap, but large trucks are forbidden on that road due to how narrow it is with another mountain just past Centre Hall. Not recommended for a 43' RV with a toad either.
Never been up all of 15, just been on parts of it now and then many years ago, so don't know what that is like now.
Note: Some maps show the stretch east of State College of US 220 as I-99, but it is still signed as US 220 with the old route as Alternate or Business 220. That can make for some confusion.
