...is a denizen of the little coffee shop I have frequented for 21 years or so. Keith is 50 years old, but is essentially about 12 mentally, about 5'10", maybe 250 lbs. He is quite sweet, always enthusiastic, always polite, always very happy to se me....and I him. A bit ago, as I was getting my afternoon dose, we spoke about his mom who has Alzheimer's, and is in a nursing home. Keith was beaming because he had just seen her and she recognized him, his brother-in- law, but not his sister.

Keith is a crossing guard at the Loyal Heights grade school, just down the street, and often gets visits and various gear from the local fire station where he is watched over by some very good men. He lives alone now but many of us check on him regularly, a nice network of caring people. At Christmas, I got a homemade card from Keith...

to Craig....Love Keith...a treasure for me.

On the 24th of this month, Keith and I are going to a Mariner's game with some special seats, thanks to my friends in local sports radio. He reminds me every day.....he he he. Keith listens to every Seahawk and Mariner game, has a radio glued to his ear and is more than willing to relay every play.

Some ramblings about a guy who brings me joy....I love Keith....!!

Taking this man to that game will be, I am sure, one of the highlights of your life and of his as well.
It can't get much better than that!! Have a great time.

Mandrake;

I envy you. I had such a friend for many years. Lawrence was his name, (never Larry) and he was a regular at Waffle House. The Circumstances and details were a bit different, but the Joy his friendship brought me was the same.

Every so often, he would take a "sabbatical" for about a month. We never knew where or what, but he was always in the best of spirits upon his return.

A few years ago, he stopped coming in. We all assumed he was on another of his sabbaticals, but he never returned. Shortly after that, the Waffle House closed down, and we never did find out what happened to him.

I do miss him.

....so many wonderful experiences of life are around us daily, if we take the time and have an open heart. While I don't recommend some of the paths I took, I do recommend the destination. I'm a very fortunate man, indeed.......!
