We just finished loading all our gear into the Durango, drove down to the Pilot fuel stop and filled up the diesel, then jumped on their Cat scales. Here are the results:

STEER AXLE : 8720 lb.
DRIVE AXLE : 1420 lb.
TRAILER AXLE : 7500 lb.
GROSS WEIGHT : 17640 lb.

Doesn't seem right to me that the steer would have so much weight, I was expecting less up front and more on the drive axle due to all our gear was loaded up front and nothing in back.

Any comments?

I bet something is backward. Your drive axle should have a lot more weight then the front axle.

Weigh it again there is NOOOOO way your steer weighs 8720# I'm pretty sure if you ever did get that much on it it would be U shaped. I would think 4400# steer 5900 on the drive will be a lot closer your hitch would have to be on the front bumper to pull that much off the drive axle. Plus with only 1400# on the drive tires I'd expect major wheel spin & little forward motion.

It doesnt appear that either axle weights of the TV are correct. Even with a 5th wheel, your front and rear should be much closer to being the same. You probably added more than 1420# just from the pin weight of the 5er.

I have to agree. You need to reweigh the rig. Even my Dodge diesel front axle with my fiver hooked up only comes to 4500 pounds and this axle is rated at 4700. Your rear weight is definitely wrong as well. Your numbers just don't make sense.. Reweigh it. Casey

If the gross is right and the trailer axle is right, then you are about 1000 over on the truck. I think your truck has a GVWR of 9200.

If your weights are correct you have a severly overloaded front axle and your front tires are also severly overloaded.

Normally they won't weigh you till you are turned around.

My guess would be that your trucks rear wheels were on the split in the scale sections with most of the weight on the front section?
