Hi All... We are heading down to Hilton Head a week from tomorrow. I've never been in that area of SC and am looking forward to exploring all around Hilton Head. Looking for suggestions of places to visit, kayaking, restaurants, bars etc? Will be DH, DD and her BF so basically all adults. Thanks sooo much! Have a great weekend

On Hilton Head, a visit to Harbor Town is nice. I love lighthouses, marinas and golf courses, so there you go.
The little town of Bluffton is quaint, but doesn't take long to see. Beaufort has a lot more to see, including some historic homes. Savannah is doable as a day trip. Much to do and see there.

Although we haven't been in last couple of years, HHI was our summer vacation spot for about 12 yrs straight. We'll be headed back next summer. These are our favorite things to do...
- beach, beach, and more beach
- bike riding (nice flat island )
- supper at Old Oyster Factory
- shopping at Coligny Plaza
- supper at Salty Dog at South Beach marina
- shopping at Harbor Town
- dolphin tour out off Broad Creek Marina. SS Pelican and Island Queen are boats we've been on. Capt had a dog that could sense where dolphins are - this has been several years back.
- fireworks (Tue night???) at Shelter Cove. Get there early for parking!
- going round and round the traffic circles
- spending time in the Coastal museum

We visit HHI 2 weeks each year. We take our kayaks and always spend a few days on Broad Creek. Wonderful bird watching and almost always see dolphin up close. You can also kayak in Palmetto Dunes in Fish Creek. A large area with lots of canals and again great bird watching from the water. Kayaks for rent at both locations too. The bike paths around the island are the best so be sure to take a bike. We also enjoy riding our bikes on the beach at low tide.

Thank you sooooo much for all of the great info.! I think we have a good head start now and cant wait to do it all lol. We are going to just rent the bikes and kayaks down there, less trouble than trying to haul it all with us. I will be sure to post when we get back or even while we are there if we can get an internet connection up and running Thanks again, I can always count on my fellow happy campers to offer lots of good advice Sue

We've rented from these folks before and they seemed to be very reasonable. They'll deliver/pickup bikes to where you're staying.

We were at HH last week at the hilton head harbor and marina RV resort. (see rvparkreviews.com.) Paved sites with plenty of room. Convient to everything. Great place to buy seafood off the boat just a few minutes away.

Don't see too many adults wearing them there. Might be like GA where <16 y.o. have to.

Just a thought, Camper Sue....you might want to head north from HHI to the Beaufort area. Lots of "Charleston-like" charm in the downtown residential area. Several really good restaurants - you will know them when you see them - they are usually crowded. Hunting Island is a few miles out of Beaufort and it is worth driving to and looking around. It will take about 45 minutes to get there.
