Have any of you clever folks rigged a slide to pull out the batteries on your coach. We have a 40 ft DP and it is difficult to check the back batteries. We do the mirror thing but it sure would be nice to just pull them out on a sliding tray. Any ideas?

My batteries are on a sliding tray from the factory. It is nothing but two heavy duty drawer slides mounted with heavy sheet metal. If I were building my own I would use stainless steel instead of sheet metal for the batteries to sit on.

Mine is on slide tray by Kwikee. I would bet with this market they will sell direct.

Putting in a slide is a final solution but it can be a pain to fabricate and make sure it continues to work. Have you considered a Flow-Rite system? I've had 2 and wouldn't be without it.

My golf cart uses a system like the flow-rite, except it has 6 batteries, sure makes it easy to keep levels correct. Seems to be a very good idea for MH batteries not on a slide.

Yup. No sliding tray for me. Just a Flow Rite. In fact I have two as I just added two more golf cart batteries and it would have taken too much hose to connect the one Flow-Rite system together to the new batteries. So, I have two separate systems about four feet apart. Fill one, then move over and fill the other, then done.

My coach came with a pull out tray. I've seen similar trays for sale at various parts suppliers, so you should be able to find a commercially made one at a reasonable cost. As brobox suggested, I wish they were made of plastic or something other than steel.

As for the flow-rite system, I check my batteries twice a year and they never take more than a half of a quart total for all four house batteries. If yours takes more water, then your charging system may be overcharging your batteries or the batteries may need replacement. JMHO

One gallon of distilled water has lasted four years and there is still about a half gallon left.

I check my batteries every month. Just a tad goes in each month.

I never have seen anyone check the specific gravity of the electrolyte with that "water drip" Flow-Rite gizmo!.....

My Gulfstream Scenic Cruiser come out of the factory with two battery tray slides. One for the chassis batteries and one for the house batteries. They are real nice.
