We were also in your shoes. We bought our Bayside used and there was an AAR which came with it. The previous owner had never used it and did not give us any instructions on its use. We put it up on the driveway at home and decided it was very nice. Now we use it for any trip longer than a weekend. It probably takes about 30 minutes for two people to set up and 30 to take down and fold. We tend to take it down the day before we have to leave. Try and enjoy.

We use ours for heavy mosquitos or when we are staying for a week.

I've got one for my Niagara, and love it. But as I solo and have no help, if I am staying less than 4 nights, I will rarely set up the awning/add-a-room.

I really do like the weatherproof 7x14 area - great for sitting out, or toddlers play area or dogs area.

I have noticed that my velcro for the skirting (on frame) has come off, so have added it to my list of things to do.

We didn't have the Carefree Add-a-Room with our PUP, but we did have the screen room that attached to the bag awning on our Santa Fe. I think we used the screen room every time we went out. And on longer trips, depending on where we were, we used a second screen room for added bug protection. Check out this link for a picture
Since we've gone over to the 'dark side", DW wanted to continue with the extra screening. So, the Add-A-Room should be here on Wednesday, just in time for me to get everything installed and ready for our week in MB starting on the 21st. I've read the directions on how to set it up, now it's just doing it to see what I think. We enjoy the space for our three Shelties, so I guess "I WILL like it", come H or high water.

one of those personal choices thing. Some folks love them, I found them to be a waste of time, along with the awning. I sold my awning and deluxe screen room, we use a free standing screen room and sit that over the picnic table.

Ours came with the Bayside. Like most we use it for trips longer than 3 nights.
Set up and take down can be tiresome, especially if it is wet or raining. But we love it anyways. On those rainy days it's nice to have the extra room.
Like Patty AM our velcro started to wear off on the frame but I never used the skirts anyways. We also have a picnic table encloser that we use if I know the weather is going to be bad. The awning usually stays closed in bad weather. I've lost too many poles in the wind. (SPUT #1) for me....

It seems odd that you have to drill holes in your awning on the Saratoga. The Bayside was already equiped for the AAR.

Perhaps my earlier post was a little too negative. Mine was an older version with a big zipper and it attached to the trailer with snaps. It was also very sturdy like most everything was back then.

We are not the screen room kind of campers. We are seldom bothered by mosquitos and the worst we see are hornets in the late summer. I suppose if I had a room that was easy to pack and set up I would be telling a different story.

Like most everything else, each of us have to make up our own minds. Take everything with a grain of salt.

My issue with it is the fact that we do our cooking under our PUP awning and I don't think it would be a good idea to cook in an enclosed space due to the hazard and also I'd worry about cooking smells staying in the room and attracting critters. Mine's brand new in the box still.

If you've got the privacy panels opened up, then it's basically a screen room. We've never had smells stay inside ours. The propane is far enough away from it that it doesn't bother me at all.

Here's a shot of our PUP with the AAR in place. You can see how it darn near doubles our bug-free, dry and shaded living area.

I have to say that this site had almost ZERO shade, in Florida, and it was miserable setting up the AAR that day. But it rained like crazy about 3 hours later and we were VERY glad we had it set up. Just dropped down the privacy panels, and everything stayed dry.

Hey, that looks familiar!
I love our AAR, but we don't use it unless we know it is going to rain or if we are staying more than 2 nights. I have the same AAR as jtbeck, and my only complaint is that I wish the privacy shades were on the outside of the screen room as it would be easier to keep the rain outside.
