We are looking to go to St. Louis and wonder if anyone had a good RV park to stay at. In looking, we did notice the rates for rv camping were very pricey. Is there a reason for that? Thanks,

We always stay at the Casino Queen
across the river in East St. Louis. Rates are reasonable, plus you get a beautiful vies of the arch.

We tried staying at the Casino Queen last year on our way back from Indiana. We were paying cash, and she wanted our credit card anyway, we said "why", she said to protect us if you do any damage. We said, we're only spending the night, we're not going to do any damage. We were goosy about giving our credit card out because we had our number stolen earlier that year at a motel. Anyhoo, she insisted and we ended up leaving. We stayed at Jellystone Park near Six Flags. It's a little tricky to get into with a long 5th wheel, but we managed and had free wi-fi!

If you are looking just for a base camp while seeing the sites around St. Louis there are 2 state parks near six-flags in west St. Louis county Edmond Babler and Robertsville, would need reservations for Babler....Babler is not too far from St. Charles, a nice place to spend a day at the old town on the river and a large casino.
The Koa is located next to Six Flags and right off Hwy 44 for easy access. If amenities are not needed I would go for one of the state parks.

Several years back, we stayed at the KOA in Granite City, IL. It was a short trip back to St. Louis. The KOA was acceptable, but a tad industrial looking on the route into it. If it is still there, would go back.

I used to stay at Sundermeier's in St. Charles when my folks lived there. small, close in, they were expanding/rebuilding the last I was there. their restaurant was very highly rated for some reason but wasn't there when I stayed. right off of 370, IIRC

Edmund A Babler would be your cheapest and most scenic choice and it is located as previous poster said. I 2nd it although it has been some years since i stayed there, but MO state parks are pretty well kept up in general

Couple of summer's ago we stayed across the river in Illinois. It was in Cahokia, but I forget the name of it. It worked well for us.

We have also stayed at the Red Barn Rendevous several times and it has always been a pleasant stay.
Getting to St. Louis is easy from the RBR take either 270/70 or 55.
