Just bought a 2004 montana that had been sitting since new. It has a thetford foot flush toilet. At first the disk valve in the toilet wouldn't hold water, I worked it back in forth and kept flushing it, now it will hold water.
My problem is, you are supposed to be able to hold the foot flush valve down part way to fill the bowl without the slid valve opening. Most of time I cant find the spot where the water will run and the valve doesen't open. is there an adjustment for this???
P.S. the foot valve doesent lift up and the instructions on the lid say to depress halfway
Thanks for any help

Wow. Many here that don't know *&%#!!!!
The Thetford operation manual, available on their web-site, for ALL of their models with a foot pedal says to PRESS the pedal down 1/2-way to fill the bowl.
The Dometic Sealand toilets are the ones that you lift up on the pedal.
If when pressing the pedal half way down on a Thetford toilet, it empties the bowl, then the mechanism needs to either be lubed or adjusted. It is too tight so when the pedal gets depressed, it starts to drag the knife-valve linkage with it before it is supposed to.

For the ones recommending he lift the valve, he said the foot valve doesn't lift up so that won't work. Try the post above, you should be good to go (no pun intended).

On the back of my Thetford there is a small metal linkage that goes from the water valve to the flush valve. It rides in a slot on the flush valve. Put a dab of grease on the end of the end of the linkage. I had to use one of the DW's makeup mirrors to help me see how it operates.
