What are the laws when security is an issue, what is allowed to be carried in the camper for protection I am concerned about parking somewhere in a strange area even for a rest without something to defend myself if the situation arises.thanks

I have never carried anything. I have never felt unsafe in my RV but that might just be me. There are those that carry guns with permits. Cell Phone and 911, Just know where you are.

This is a question that has no answers or too many.. Do you have a concealed carry permit? The laws are different depending on what State your in. In many States, unlike other campers, a TC is considered cargo and not a living space, so a good hiding space may be necessary. Baseball bats, Pepper Spray, panic horns, bright lights, big dog, marshal arts, being stealthy, are just a few. The bottom line is your likely going to break the law somewhere. You'll just have to decide what makes you comfortable. If you think this looks like the rambling of a mad man, try and read the different state and federal laws.

I would "guess" that it is legal to carry any unloaded long arm in the camper most anywhere in the US.

In Fl.an adult(not a convicted felon)can keep a unlicensed, unregistered and fully loaded handgun in a holster or container(cigar box,gun sock, case, etc.)INSIDE a locked or unlocked glove box.Not center console, not under or sitting exposed on top of a seat. The glove box or trunk IS OK.There is an exception for unloaded and cased long guns transported for sporting purposes in vehicles without rear storage. We always have a firearm handy when camping in Fl.I would be remiss as the head of my household not to exercise every available option to protect my loved ones at all times.Firearms,Alcohol and fireworks are prohibited in all Fl. state parks. It would be wise to Google state gun laws to find out what is legal in each state.

Don't ask... don't tell. Sincerely hope it will never ever become an issue. If it does, and you do... be sure your actions are congruent to those of 12 reasonable and prudent men and women. JMO

Very informative, and good advice.

Hopefully, our fellow TC'ers will skip the "I pack and ......" stories. Unfortunately it is too often that a Thread on guns goes that way.
