I thought that the fuel was ok for the new emission standards. Anyway, this post will get deleted real quick.
I have no problem with the Mexican authorities doing what ever they feel is needed to protect their economy/citizens.
I would, however, suggest that if the situation were reversed and the U.S. were doing the same, we would hear about it big time. "It just isn't fair".
I would guess that the pressure that is put on the Mexican Petrol industry by those filling aux tanks and bringing them back across the border is no greater than what the "undocumented aliens" are doing to our economy.

US Customs allows 200 gallons to be brought north without duty. It's no wonder they crackdown on the wise guy gringos that come across with their 400 plus gallon spare tanks. Some don't even stop and buy lunch, or some junk souveniers to bring north. The other big problem causing any Mexican diesel shortage, is the big cruise ships coming out of San Diego, waiting to fuel up until they get to Ensenada.

That's interesting.
If the article is correct and there are currently laws on the Mexican books covering this they have every right to enforce those laws whenever they choose.

Moisheh,
Good for the "federales!" In TJ they will no long sell to anyone who has an auxillary tank holding more than 100 liters.
Unfortunately the abuse I've seen has not been by the guy with a 75 gallon auxillary tank in the bed of his PU making a taco run.
Its the big rig truckers who go SOB with the express purpose of topping of their tanks & illegally reselling fuel on the American side.
We have yet to hear the end of this saga.

They are buying a product from Mexico, and bringing it north just like so much that comes north. How much you want to bet someone in Texas or other border state complained to Mexico

Hi Moisheh,
Been out of town without Internet access. I don't have a problem with filling just the primary tank. More trips to Nogales just means more great lunches/meals in Mexico! Aux tank was for those long runs between fuel stops in remote areas. It is still good!
