We towed our Sunline from Southern Maryland to Lancaster, PA, Old Mill Stream campground and back. Using tow/haul and keeping road speeds between 55-60mph, got an overall average 10.9mpg. This is hand calculated, refilling to the top of the fuel neck each time. The lie-o-meter was spot on. The truck towed the 12k trailer with ease of course and ran perfect. Diesel up there was selling for $4.49 a gallon. Never did get an indication of a regen the whole trip which amounted to about 500 miles of highway and farm country driving. BTW, very nice part of America to see and Old Mill Stream campground extremely clean and well run. Just do not expect to loose any weight, Lord the food sure is good and way too plentiful.
Man, that still seems like much lower MPG's than the newest 6.6 Duramax and 6.7 Cummins. In the 10's?
Seems like all I hear is on the forum is the 6.4 is down on independently dyno'ed h.p. and torque, and fuel mileage........What goes here?
This reflash doesn't seem like it upped the mileage to anything near the other two latest diesels from GM. or Dodge/Cummins, even though they are down from previous years.

Eightball, my truck is a 4.88 equipped 450, not a 3.73 SRW 250/350. Not bad mileage for a truck of this class rated for 33k lbs GCWR.
Latest reflash:
08-13-2 for pre-08/03/07 built trucks
08-13-3 for trucks built after the above date

My mpg's seem lower, that is for sure, comparatively. But I always take mpg reporting with a grain of salt. There are so many factors that contribute, wind, terrain, speed, profile of TV & trailer. Without a doubt I'm a little dissapointed, but it is still WAY WAY better then my F150 was, especially through the mountains/wind!!!
My guess is right now a highway trip (unladen) on fairly flat with fairly mild wind I will average 17 or better.

I can see with that 4.88 rear end that would definitely affect your MPG's.
Capt Skup sent you a email but I was wondering if you payed to have the venturi kit installed, my dealer said they couldn't do it even if I paid for it until Ford released them to the public.
It's reprogramming the onboard computer with the latest, most up to date software.
I didn't know anything about it either until I read this thread. Then I called my Ford dealer and he said that unless I was having problems, I should probably leave it alone. I'm getting 17 highway on my 02 7.3 liter right now he said that was really good.

So your fuel mileage went from horrendous up to just terrible.
Diesel engines from 5 to 10 years ago may not pull as fast as the new diesels, but they sure got better fuel mileage doing it. Ford can't get the new Scorpion Diesel in the Superduty fast enough. It is supposed to be more powerful and more efficient than the current 6.4L PSD.
