I have a verizon air card and seldom use wifi. I did use it about a year ago and things were fine. A few months ago I was in a area with no verizon coverage so was trying to use wifi at the RV park we were staying at. My computer said there were no wifi networks available, but I know there was. It said to be sure the wifi switch was turned on. Verizon must have switched something when they downloaded their stuff so now I can't use wifi. Anyone know what to do??

The WiFi switch is on the outside of your computer, it is something you have to do. FYI, My wife has turned hers off several times without being aware of it.
Depending on it's location it should be on the outer edge, its a button that goes in and out, depending you Computer type. Bill

I have accidentally turned mine off a few times. Mine on a HP Pavilion is on the left front side of the keyboard. It is a sliding switch. Blue light comes on when it is turned on.

You might have to turn on the radio (WiFi) so it can "see" the hotspot. You will have to go to your wireless card softare and enable radio. On my laptop, it is under: start\control panel\wireless configuration utility (then there is a check box for turning the radio on/off.

You don't say what operating system you are running but if it is XP go to Start->Connect To->Show All Connections. Right-mouse on your wireless connection and left-mouse on Enable.

Many things that could happen here. First is the physical switch, some also have a function key with what looks like a radio signal on one of the keyboard buttons. As also mentioned some times its in the software. What kind of laptop have you got? In the verizon software you can also turn the wifi on and off if I remember correctly.

I had a simular problem and after talking to Verizon and after un-installing their old software and uplaoding the latest software version, then doing a re-boot, it was working again. I also have a CTR-350 router that I thought might have been the problem, but when I called 3g store and talking to them, I was assured that the problem was not with the router.
It acts up about once a month but after I do a shut down and restart (and unplug the router for a minute) everything is good again.
Hope when you find your problem that you share it here so we can compare notes.
Good Luck
Frank

And campgrounds are not known for wall-to-wall wifi coverage for campers running wifi from inside their metal cans....did you try your laptop inside their office?

I have 2 Dell laptops, one has an external slide switch, one doesn't. Possibly some one with the same model as yours can give you specifics.
