This thursday, my daughter and son-n-law are taking my little grandbaby to a neurologist. She had an MRI done recently to check a birth defect, and we found out Amelia has Tethered Spinal Cord Syndrome. It's related to Spina Bifida.

I am worried about the extent of surgery that may be required, any complications, her suffering pain afterwards, (she's not yet 3 months old) and the risk of her cord re-tethering to scar tissue.
Please keep Amelia and her Mommy and Daddy in your prayers.

Fortunately, that gorgeous baby girl has no fear or anticipation of any of the above. She will feel it, however, if the people who love her are sad or fearful. Be brave and put your trust and faith in the best specialists you can find, and the Lord. Don't waste time and energy on all the horrible possibilities. Easier said than done, I know. One thing my daughter and I realized in the relationship to Spina Bifida, was the factor that (in our opinion) this probably caused her screening early in her pregnancy to come back at risk. At that time, the ultrasound failed to pick up any open spot along her spine, so they targeted instead signs for Down Syndrome. Ultimately, amnio came back negative for that. What no one realized was the elevation was due to the spinal cord not closing off at the bottom.
CAPOPPY, both mom and dad are very level-headed and calm about all of this. They are waiting to find out what lies ahead and will tackle it at that time. They are both excellent parents and I am so proud of them both. We do have peace in a way knowing that she will not remember any of the pain after surgery.
We just pray for healing and a normal life for her! That's all I'm asking for, and have faith in God's answers to prayer! I just want to get prayers going up for her, so that we can give God the glory.
