If you don't have reservations now, you probably won't get them....the place gets packed up pretty quickly. Are you planning to arrive early? I know the campers start showing up and getting in line the Friday prior to race week. You will see them on the side of the road waiting to get into the campgrounds. If you don't have any luck, just PM me and I may be able to suggest a few that are "out of the way" and maybe 45 minutes to an hour from the track.
It's been a few years since we went to Bristol, but we camped at a drive-in movie place. I went to the track's website and I believe it was Twin City Drive-In & Campground, 2512 Volunteer Parkway, Bristol, TN, 423.968.7083 (Copied and pasted from their website.)
It was reasonably priced, relatively quiet at night and about .8 miles (a pretty easy walk) from the track. The best thing about it was that it is all uphill from the highway and very dry. I don't know if you have ever been to Bristol, but some of the camping is in very low lying, flood prone areas, that quickly turn to mud if it rains.
If you do stay at the drive-in, find out when the parade of haulers is going into the track and bring a lawn chair to see it out front of the drive-in. It will be in the evening and it's pretty cool to see.
They have a speed street type of setup on one of the main streets in Bristol (the Tennessee - Virginia state line runs down the center of the street).
There is also a place that has the greatest smoked meat sandwiches ever, that is a couple miles from the track. It's not uncommon to see some of the drivers or crew members there. Maybe someone can help you with directions.

When my grown kids were inspecting our new fifth wheel, one asked why we bought a trailer that sleeps 4. My reply was that we couldn't find one that sleeps 2!
Ditto on curts recommendation for a CG. Stayed there in March. 100 bucks a night---going rate. Had elect hook up, but most were dry sites. No water/sewer hook ups either, but they allowed you to fill up your fresh tank before parking. CG had showers and bathrooms avail. After the race, the police shut down the hiway and it becomes one HUGE walkway from track toward Bristol.
Good Luck.

We stay at the Red Barn Campground. It's $200.00 for the week. No hookups, but it's a great place to stay and a short walk to the track. They may still have some sites left.
Spoke with my sister that lives about 1/2 mile from the track. Last Saturday she said there were 22 RV's lined up atthe track already waiting to get in.
You will be fine. You will be about 3/4 mile from the front stretch seats, from the entrance of the campground. Next door is Farmer Bob's, where we used to stay.
