Hello,
We have an 08 Jayco 5th wheel that has a propane outlet at the rear of the trailer for connecting a BBQ grill. We have purchased a Weber Q100 grill that I would like to connect to this outlet. It is my understanding that the Weber is regulated for high pressure propane. I called Jayco and they said the trailer outlet connects to the propane system after the main tanks regulator which I assume means the grill outlet would be low pressure. Now my question, what hardware do I need to get high pressure propane to the Weber? Am I correct in thinking I don't need to do anything to the Weber since it is designed for high pressure?

Any information you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

You need to remove the internal regulator on the BBQ grill.
It is very simple to do and requires just a few brass nipples.
And then, of coarse, you need the hose.

i just bought a regualr attach. hose and tied it into my extend a stay fitting on my tank, left the weber reg. alone and let it do it's job. i don't see how you will be able to adjust the heat w/o it.

who left the light on? is it me or are we leaning downhill. where did the dog run off to

The Weber Q doesn't incorporate it's regulator into the control valve. It is separate so it can be removed without removing the flow control.
Also, the Extend-A-FLOW supplies high pressure to an appliance before the regulator on the RV tank.
The OP's outlet is low-pressure AFTER the RV's regulator.

Charlan, are you saying he needs the low pressure adapter? I would like a similiar setup for my B B Q. My portable grill uses the disposible cylinders, and I'd like to convert it to use my 5ers propane system. Please send me a PM about this. Thanks!

I need to find out the specifics of how you made this modification. I contacted Weber but they don't want to give any advice. Please describe exactly how you did this modification.

Thanks

The item in question is for use if you have a low pressure quick connect on the side of you trailer and your BBQ is a high pressure like the ones that take the small bottles, other vice you need a dual outlet on your trailer tank and a hose that will connect to your BBQ.
I do believe there are some BBQ's that will work with low pressure.

If the BBQ has the control valve for adjusting temps and it is separate from the standard 11" W/C pressure regulator, you simply need to remove that regulator and replace with a hose with the male Q-connect fitting. ACE hardware will probably have what you need in their BBQ section. You might consider purchasing a hose that is longer so you can get your BBQ out from under awnings or away from the trailer.

The line they have run from the tanks back to the female Q-connect at the factory is already regulated at that 11" of water-column psi., no need to regulate it twice. The factory are forbidden by law to run a high pressure, non-regulated line anywhere in your coach directly from the tanks! All LPG must be regulated immediately off of the tanks and every appliance in the coach must use propane at that 11" water column pressure. For safety's sake I hope they have also provided a 1/4 turn gas rated ball valve early in that line so that you can isolate it completely.

Something you need to remember though: You may now NOT use the BBQ in the traditional manner by hooking directly to any 20lb tank as you would have before, you MUST fab up a regulator with a female Q-connect to first attach to the tank and then plug your BBQ into that.

Today is just the tomorrow you worried about yesterday!
