Hope this works...this should be (might be?) the picture of Charlie's new door on our fifth wheel. I love it. Much brighter inside. Linda

Ok..guess I'll keep working on this. Next time maybe the picture itself will show, and not the address...But you get the general idea at least. The door lets in a lot of light.

I'm working on the same modification right now also. My sister and brother-in-law have modified their door and they used mirror clips to hold the glass onto the door. I bought some plexi glass and some clips this past weekend but after reading this article I might go buy me some velcro. He has a solid piece of glass on his door. Just cut out around the slide. I like the velcro idea too. That way you can easily remove it. I'm going to work on mine tonight, I'll let ya know how it turns out.

I made mine using the directions in the above link. This is the second fiver I've used it with and it works great. It allows the door to be open with the AC running and allows much more light inside our rig, as well as, it's the favorite spot for our Golden Retriever to look out.
I made mine in the 2-piece design as illustrated. It makes it much easier to install and take out, as well as store.

Installed mine in about 3 hours last night. I used plactic clips but I made mine 1 single piece. (my door is made alittle different than the one in the illistrations)Cut the height, width and slide area out with my table saw and used a dremel tool with a multi-purpose bit to cut our around the hinges and latch. Sure will be nice to be able to open the door and get some light and be able to see whats going on outside.

Glad mine rig came stock with the heavy plastic film and removable frames.
I didn't even notice them until, I wondering why the DW could never hear me when I was outside...

I just measured the opening of the screen and aded 1/2 inch all the way around went to Ace hardware and had them cut it. Then I added a white velcro strip all the way around. Same with the top section but used a scribe to radius the top corners and added the velcro. Total time including the trip to the hardware store 1 1/2 hours. It's not a big deal.

Here is how I did mine. Used velcro on last rig, like this set-up much better. Works great. Able to leave main door open now. Really makes it seem like more space in rig.

Have mirror hangers in center to hold plexi in.

Top panel and sides of top and bottom held in with rubber used in screen doors.

Here is the rubber used. Fits right into door and holds great.

Have to loosen a few screws, pop out the rubber, and you can take out panels to clean, or let in air if right temperature.

Before our vacation, I took kakamper's advice and went to WalMart and bought heavy vinyl off the roll. Cut it in two pieces, one for top and one for the bottom, to fit with about 3/4 inch extra along each edge. Velcro keeps it on and it is sooo easy to take off or put on according to the weather. Tom has also changed out the white plastic door slide and panel for the clear one. We have an unobstructed view as well as more light in the camper now with either heat or air running. We had many people stop to inquire about our JT stabilizers and our "storm" door while we were up north all last month.
