Need help picking a site for a 35 ft. fifth wheel with 3 slides in area 2 at Ft. De Soto. Thanks in advance!

Good luck. That is one tall RV unfriendly place. There must be 200 trees there that have big chunks taken out of them. We took our 38', three slide Class A in and NEVER AGAIN! Many sites are just plain impossible to back into. The few pull throughs they have are probably your best bet.

The best sites we found for our 36 foot 12'8" high fifth wheel are either pull thrus sites 139, 140,144, 147 or back in sites 128-138 although some of them may be a little narrow to back into at least you can back into them off the driver's side which makes it easier. We have found the sites toward the end of Area 2 very tight and scary.

Yea, Ft DeSoto is pretty tight, but it is a great campground.

If you go to the Reservation Site and select 'Reserve by Site', you can click on the cg map (broken out by section) and choose a site, it will show you a photo of the site.

We didn't have a big TT when we checked out Ft DeSoto several years ago, so my attention was to height. But, like Big Karma said, the trees have taken a beating.

Hi, we stayed in site 205, and site 186. Our 5'er is 35ft. with 2 slides. They would have been plenty big enough for 3 slides. Beautiful cg. Like the above posters said, watch your top, and some sites are tricky to back into. I have some pics of Ft.Desoto in my pictures. Can't wait to go back. OOPS, on edit, just saw you have a dog and was asking about area 2 not 3.

Watch out in there! Section for the dogs has a sign warning about low hanging branches. We didn't see that and the rangers neglected to warn us, even after I told them we were newbies and showed them our rig (13'2" high, 38'long fifth-wheel).

Long story short -- had to have the whole roof replaced. We ended up backing into site #85 after trying to get into #93 to no avail.

Good luck!
