I have a 2007 BT Cruiser (30').

I have a vibration when the water is turned on and it doesn't appear to be from the water pump. I believe it is an air lock in the pipes.

Has anyone else had this problem and how did you resolve it?

Thank you for your help.

Run the water for a few minutes and if that does not solve the probem it probably isn't air locked.

I think you might have "water hammer". The cure (at least in home plumbing) is an air-filled vertical pipe near the faucet causing the "slam".

Windriderjr is correct for home plumbing, but I think the cause in your RV would be a loose pump. If, after checking the pump and finding that it is secure, you could install an accumulator, which is nothing more than a quart sized container that is half full of air. The air acts like a shock absorber. You can buy one at any RV parts place and they are easy to install. They are designed to keep your pump for cycling on and off to much. Good luck. JMHO

Look at the check valve at the water inlet. It may be partially blocked and vibrating when water passes. Also you might have a loose faucet washer that vibrates when turned on.

Also check to see if the manufacturer installed soft tubibg at the inlet and outlet of the water pump. This tubing is what quiets down a water pump when compared to hard tubing, by isolating the pump noise from the plumbing system.
If there is just the hard Pex tubing connected to the pump, this can transmit sound from the pump through the hard tubing through entire RV.

Air Lock (Vapor lock) is when the pump is sucking air instead of water and has enough air in it that no water flows. Can not happen with RV pumps

Just so you know

This has nothing to do with air in the lines however, This can happen, in fact it is normal for it to happen.. (There are special air chambers built onto the lines near faucets normally)

wa8yxm,

Makes sense since the pump switch is an on-demand device. If you had air in the system it seems it would want to try to run all the time until enough back pressure shut it off.

To the OP. You might try hooking to shore water to be sure your lines are full. Then verify that your fresh water tank has enough water in it. Also make sure all your faucets are closed tightly. If 1 is slightly open it will cause the pump to continuously run in a partial on mode. The sound should change when starting as compared to full run. I recall a lot of vibration during a partial/leaky faucet.
