WW told me that the damage was a function of leaving the WD bars on while going over the whoop-de-dos for the off-road guys. They advised just loosening the bars for those situations.

Just be aware that the tongue weight will be around 2,000lbs loaded for a trip.

WW told people a lot of things while this was happening, instead of the truth and just admitting they had a problem and notifying people. My friend had the issue with the tongue bending on his FT SL and when he took it in to get fixed WW actually had the nerve to ask him "what has he been hauling in this thing" like it was his fault when they knew all a along it was the thickness of the steel at the A frame. Man that really pissed me off that they actually asked him that.

Diconnecting the WD bars is the worst thing you can do when you off road. It was just a design flaw is all. As soon as WW knew about it (as well as the other issue's) they should of notified their customers right away and took care of it. Would of been way better for them and their reputation instead of all the BS they gave their customers.

OK FWIW I took the WW FS3000 empty from San Diego to WA with a 25000 in October 2007 with WD. Then I took it to AK fully loaded with no WD or sway control, hooked to a Freightliner FL50 with a car on the deck in June of 2008. Gross weight was 31,000, 19,000 0n the truck (including hitch weight) and 12,000 0n the trailer.

There are several hundred miles of frost heaves between Haines Junction and Tok, plus a few beyond. No WD, no damage, even though I hit some of the heaves a BIT HARD.

Call WW all the names you want and impugn their integrity with gay abandon. They are gone. Just trying to report the actual results.

Tongue weight with full water tanks and a full cargo area was over 2,000 lbs weighed on a Sherline Tongue Weight Scale. As water is moved from Fresh to Waste the tongue weight will rise because of tank locations.

My apologies for stating actual weights. Ought to be banned for argumentative.

The lowest tongue weight I can get empty is about 1750lbs. Probably not well suited to a factory supplied tow package.

It is a very nice trailer with great capabilities, but there are a few things you should know.

2000 lbs, Holy Cow. My truck, an 05' F350 is rated for 1250 lbs tongue weight. SO how does that work?

You get a new Hitch the truck can handle the trailer it is just the Factory Hitch that can not- or should not

A properly loaded trailer will be right at 10% tongue weight.
I did say "Properly Loaded".
The only way to truly know your tongue weight while loading is to spend $100 on a Sure Line Tongue scale (http://www.discountcampus.com/cgi-bin/webc.exe/store/st_main.html?catid=1102).
I towed a FSC3200 loaded correctly and was right at 10%-11% tongue weight and so can you, that is assuming you have toys to load in the rear.
Totally empty my trailer was was tongue heavy.

You will need to also know total loaded trailer weight so you can figure your 10%, any truck stop can help you there.

If you get a scale get the 0-5000 lb scale that way you never need to upgrage like I just did.

I plan on weighing the trailer empty if/when we get it. Fully load it and weigh it again. Then will see if heavier hitch is needed.

Yup we have 3 full size sport ATV's, Yam Raptor 700, Hon 400EX and A Suz 400Z. What are you hauling in your for comparison?

That's normal isn't it?

That's the plan. Empty and loaded. Getting the scale you mentioned may make it easier to play with the loading so I don't have to make a trip to the cat scales every time.

The heavier receiver will be needed.
I had a 2004 FS3000 with gel coat sides, genny etc.
My empty tongue weight was 1400lbs. When I say empty, all holding tanks were empty, propane was full and 2 6V batteries up front.

When I filled the tanks and no toys in the back, 1750lbs.
When I filled the tanks and put in my Banshee, golf cart and 2 kids quads, my tongue weight went back to 1400lbs.... too much for the factory receiver on a Ford SRW.

I got the Reese Tow Beast hitch..... and a new F350 SRW(at the time I owned the trailer)

I used the Sherline scale to play with all the configurations.

With all the weighing, also try this...

Add as much water to the tank as you think you will need for the outing. Weigh. Move that water to the holding tanks to simulate your actual water use for the outing and weigh again. The waste tanks are well ahead of the axles, the water tanks only a bit ahead.

Just so you know what you are dealing with. Best wishes for a wonderful time.
