We're heading for Myrtle Beach State Park on Friday. We'll be there for ten days. Looking forward to the vacation. I just had a few questions for those who've been there.
We've got a 4 and 10 year old and were wondering about things that we shouldn't miss. Also any suggestions of things to do in general would be greatly appreciated. The last thing I was wondering about was whether MBSP has a pool and playgrounds. thanks in advance for any info or suggestions.

No pool, great beach. I can't remember seeing a playground. It is a very close campground. Not much there for kids to do. but like I said the beach is wonderful!

If your kids are like most, they would like one of the big 3 (PL,LW,OL) just a mile away much better. Alot more kid friendly.

If you are planning on getting out and about, sounds like you are, take them to the Ripley's Aquarium. It is great. Plan on spending at least half a day there. They even have a tank with all the reef fish in it that were featured in the Nemo movie. It is great fun for kids and adults.

Drive south on US 17 to Georgetown and take a 2 hour sail on the Jolly Rover. The crew dresses as Pirates and interacts with the kids.

The park is great for everyone that likes to camp. They do not have a pool, but the beach is great, they do have a playground that is nice, lots of areas to ride bikes, and walk. They have a boardwalk that goes from the campground all the way to the fishing pier. If yo leave the park MB has plenty to do, the Aquarium is nice, water parks, Nascar speed parks, etc. You will have a wonderful time.

A beach and a boogie board is all they should need to have a blast. Maybe even get a skim board for the surf edge. They should have plenty of fun.

Inside MB SP, there are some great hiking trails and like everyone else said - a great beach.

As far as outside of the park - the sky is the limit. We went to Wild Water & Wheels in Surfside Beach (south of MB SP)- it was worth the admission and we stayed all day long. Then there is also Myrtle Waves (near Broadway at the Beach) - a little more expensive and generally more crowded, but they have a lot more rides. Check around, you can find discount tickets.

A trip to Broadway at the Beach can generally blow a whole day just window shopping and there a lot of great restaurants for lunch or a night out. When we where there was this guy standing outside of Kling's Kites doing this whole stand-up comic routine - it was hilarious! Right across the breezeway, there was The Fudgery fudge shop and several guys would come out and sing every once in while. There is a lot of 'free' entertainment to see and experience.

Of course, there is always 'the strip'... just park and walk. And just about any kind of entertainment that you want (if you're pockets are deep enough).

You could always do a day trip to Charleston (about a 2 hr drive) and see Patriots Point. And Charleston is great in and of itself... lots of history and beautiful architecture.

That's just the tip of the ice berg... there is so much to in the MB area, you shouldn't have a problem.
