I have a Onan Emerald Plus 4000 gas gen in my 1994 fleetwood.
The generator ran great until last week when I got below half a tank of fuel in the motorhome. I checked and had no fuel to the gen carb.
I have about 3/4 tank of fuel now but there is no fuel getting to the gen. I tried to start it as I read in another post that it took a long time to get fuel back to the carb after running out.
I can make the gen run as long as I have fuel going to it.
What do you think it is:
Fuel pump?
Is there a fuse for the fuel pump?
I dont think the fuel pump is on the gen, it looks to me like it is somewhere else closer to the tank?

some gens turn off when fuel gets to low so you can't run your tank empty and strand yourself. Fill your tank and start your gen

With the age of your unit you need to check your fuel line and it's connections. You could be sucking air along with the fuel. It could also be the fuel pump as you suggested.

I will have to wait until it stops raining to get under the mh.
What about a fuse?

I think on that model the fuse is on the right side of the control box. May have a cover on it. Can you post model and serial number.

You state that you can make it run as long as it has fuel, this would eliminate a fuse problem. I had to replace the fuel pump on mine last year. It was $85 from Onan and is on the lower right side.

I missed that part also. If it will run on a seperate tank,I think that is what you are saying. Then you should trace the fuel line back to the tank and check for cracks. The fuel pump will be round or square and copper looking. It should have a wire plug on it. Unhook from the control wire and hook a jumper wire from the battery to it. You should hear the pump clicking as it fills the system. I would also blow back through the fuel line into the tank to clear the pick up tube.

Update!!!!
I got it running, it was the fuel pump. The little fuel pump was $62 from the auto parts store. The fuel pump came with a filter already attached to it as well.

I cut open the old fuel pump to see what was wrong with it. The old pump still run, it just would not pump fuel. It had a rubber pad about the size of an aspirn in it that appeared to be bad, it was worn on the edges. I suppose it has been in the generator since 1994.
