The first thing we do when we get in the toad is ask, did you turn the water off? if neither of us can answer than one will get out and check and if we get down the road in the toad and can't remember than we turn around and go back to check, i sean first hand from a neighbor what a waterfall looks like coming out the trailer door when he returned from having diner. These rigs are rockin and rollin down the road and i would rather be there to see a leak than come back to a lake and another thing i have met some great people when i went around to turn off the water. 3708

not a bad Idea to do it at home when you leave to go camping. Fiend of mine had the toilet hose break on his home in Yuma and the insurance company just about rebuild the whole house. Now he turn water off in every house when he leave for some time.

This happen in Texas this past winter. One night it got down below freezing and the water lines froze. Single woman in TT behind us got up in the morning and tried to brush her teeth. Well the line was frozen so she got out bottled water to use. Then she left to go to her job at the hospital. Later in the day it warmed up and the line opened up. She had forgot to turn off the water in the sink and had her gray tank closed. It didn't take long to fill the gray tank and the water was running out the door. I don't always remember to turn it off but do try when we are away.

I've always had a fear of water lines breaking inside the coach. Thousands of miles of shaking can weaken any one of many fitting.
My personal answer is to always use my on board water pump ONLY. I fill up my tanks and then pump my water. It's easy to always turn the pump off when I'm gone and easy enough to hear the pump running when I'm in.
It also eliminates water pressure spikes or excess pressure period.
In regards to the water bowl almost overflowing comment, mine has two small overflow holes just below the rim, doesn't everyones?

We came back from lunch to find a waterfall down the steps from the bathroom and out the door. Toilet pedal stuck in the down position. Could have been worse, we had just pulled in and hadn't used the toilet yet, so the black water tank was relatively clean. When we leave the stick house for any amount of time we shut the water off. Just installed two battery operated water sensor alarms under the kitchen sink and in the basement of the 5er under the bathroom. If it happens at night, we'll know it!
