I think GS probably has an excellent product--if that's what your looking for. It seems in today's world people are always looking to pass off all risks to someone else--especially a large federal government. I'm willing to accept more risks myself for both my RV, TV, and health. The one time I broke down (blew tranny in my motorhome), my insurance company paid for the towing (they paid to tow it back to my home town!). I paid to rebuild the tranny--even with that I'm way ahead. I did blow three tires going to Florida a couple of years ago on my TT and could have used a phone number but after locating a service to come to the rest area on I-75 in GA on New Years day and paying for two tires (including mounting) my bill was $265! I had a supplement for my health insurance (Tricare--military version of Medicare)after sitting down and doing some calculating I dropped the supplement and banked the premiums. So is the question is ERS needed or is ERS a good product? I think a good product but needed--well that depends on you personally and your willingness (or lack of) to accept some risk in your life.

Depends on your area. I've posted this before when the question was asked. In my area the AAA program that allows for towing of your trailer or 5er isn't available so if my TV breaks down on a trip the trailer stays put or I pay big $$$ independantly to have it pulled somewhere. Although I haven't used it yet I dropped my AAA in favor of the GS ERS simply for the fact that it covers towing my trailer AND covers all my vehicles when I'm not towing as well.

I had the tire changed before ERS showed up the last two times. The last time we called for service {tire blowout} I was informed it would be two hours at least before help would arrive. I would still say "thumbs up" since my DW locks her keys inside or for whatever reason.

I called GS when I got stuck in the snow in the thumb of Michigan. The recorded message said if I was in danger to call the local police and call back the next day for service if I still needed it. I have had Coach-Net since and had good service the one time I needed help in FL. My daughter's neighbor had gotten a neww John Deere for Christmas and was towing people out all day and having a ball doing it. He wouldn't even take anything for getting me out of the snow on Christmas Day.

I have needed GSERS several times over the years and have had good experiences and bad. When you are stuck on the side of the freeway and the ERS operator doesn't know where Seattle is, ya don't get a good feeling. I stay with them because as far as I know, they are the only ones who will come after me in the outback. (and they have).

If it is the same as CW Roadcare, which I believe it is, my vote is thumbs down, depending on where you are at. I currently have Roadcare and when talking to operators I could hear others answering using a saluation for a different service. Considering Roadcare and Good Sam ERS are operated by the same people, I believe that they are the same service. I would still be in Columbus, Ohio if I waited for them to find someone on a weekend. Ended up walking a good distance to find a parts store to buy tools and parts to make my own repair after waiting over 12 hours for them to fail to respond. Next ERS will be Coachnet.
