Does anyone have any idea when Spell Check will begin functioning again? Spell Check has been out of order for at least a week; probably more. I am not a good speller and need Spell Check to correct my errors. Thanks.

Download and install the free Firefox browser. It has a built-in spell checker that will work on any web site you visit. Waiting for this web sites spellchecker to work may be a long wait...

The spell check problem is frustrating for many. Doubly so because it is not consistent. I just used it successfully several time on the Coast to Coast portal.

To answer you question, no, we don't know when the technicians will get it fixed. We have a thread in the moderator's forum asking the same question, but none of the technicians have posted a response.

This thread is moving to from Technology Corner to Forum Technical Support.

The best spell checker on the internet is FREE.... and I have not found any online web site that it would not work on..

It is called "ieSpell" and it is a totally free download from the internet.

http://www.iespell.com

It is a very small program that does not take up much space on your hard drive.

With ieSpell, you simply R-click anywhere in your document and a little window pops up...
then click on "Check Spelling" and it will give you the suggested word's correct spelling..

But here is the best part about ieSpell.... suppose there are several spellings of a word and each spelling has a different definition...??

example... "Since" and "Sense".. "Karat" and "Carrot" .. "Cash" and "Cache" .... you would be amazed just how many people don't know the difference ..

With ieSpell, you simply ...
> highlight the word
> "R-click" on it
> click on "Webster's Dictionary".

You will be taken to the Webster's online dictionary where you can see which spelling is correct for the meaning you have in mind.

"ieSpell" is extremely popular with members of all the RV forums as well as other forums like "Cracker Barrel", etc...

TWO CENTS WORTH
The story goes that a man died and was approached by the Devil who told him that he could buy his soul back for a dollar. The man searched his pockets and could only come up with 98 cent. While begging the Devil to forget the two cent he was short, an Angel happened by and hearing the Devil laughing, asked the man, "Would you mind if I put in my two cents ?" The Devil got so mad that he exploded in a puff of smoke and the man's soul was saved.
The moral: Sometimes putting in your two cents worth makes a difference.

Oh... by the way..... did you ever see a word in some one's post and wondered what it meant ?

Or maybe you are surfing a web site and wonder about the definition of a word..

With the "ieSpell" program... simply highlight ANY word ... ANYWHERE on your computer screen and "R-click" on it.. then click on "Webster's Dictionary" or "Encarta Definitions" or "Wikipedia" ...

For you folks who already have ieSpell installed... did you know that you can click on ANY word and be taken to Webster's web site ? I had ieSpell for over a year before I learned that little trick..

I thought it only worked on what I was typing... but I discovered that I can highlight any word that I can see anywhere on my computer screen .... then R-click and choose either Encarta or Websters or Wikipedia to get the spelling or definition..

I don't know of any other spell check program that will let you do that..

John

Over a week later and still not working. Got a "error 404" message for a few days when I tried and now get

"An error was encountered while processing your spell check. In most cases, restarting the spell check will fix the problem. Sorry for the incovenience."

I use spell check on every post and really miss the feature. I may have to try the other program that has been mentioned. Randy
